192,500 on a 2001 530i
My Maintenance log is a folder 4 inches thick. Some minor stuff needs to be addressed, but nothinng major. DISA valve in route.
FYI Still have original shocks with this milage and rides better than most NY cars with half the miles. (Although they def will be replaced in the next year)
132000 miles 2002 530i auto. Bought it with 118k. No issues whatsoever since purchase. Replaced front pads only.
2001 525i automatic
will click 200k miles in the next couple of weeks.. (at 199k right now)
valve cover gaskets
CCV
Alternator
thermostat
radiator
single coil.
That's pretty much it. Runs perfectly and I get 30+ mpg on the highway with the AC on still.
All original suspension but that will be changed out soon
Also besides the radiator and thermostat (which were very recently replaced), all the rest of the cooling system is working perfectly

Exactly what is the point to this thread? There are more E39s with over 120K than under. Expected more from someone with 300+ posts. This is the "forum" right? For a minute I thought it was the "fest". They have a lot of posts over there that lend theselves to no conclusion whatsoever.
Old, contrary, and out-of-touch,
but still learning sumpin' every day
NOTORIOUSLY long-winded :-(
Actually, my E39 still reads time on its clock. Only the speedometer reads mileage.
I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
Just hit 127k and have done valve covers, valley pan and belt tensioners plus belts. As well as spark plugs.
I'm very luck to have bought my car from a rich family that took care of the car. I know I need upper control arm bushings replaced and the infamous sub frame bushings on these tourings but the car runs like a champ and strong. The car super clean as well since it was always garaged as I do now as well.

2000 528i manual sport/premium pkg M52TU 137K
Bought 2 months ago, no service records. Bypassed passenger seat occupancy sensor, bought SRS and Peake scan/reset tools. Replaced third brake light, low beams and rear sway bar links.
To do: fix pixels, repair torn front bumper cover, adjust hand brake, buy new tires, fix all of the squeeks/rattles, polish headlight lens, adjust doors so don't need to slam to close, refinish wheels (style 5), track down leak near front passenger door, get used to hood opening the "wrong" way. Make this car last because I don't care for the styling of the newer 5 series models...

'97 528, bought in early 2010 with 119K on the clock. 133K now. So far, I've had the following work done at reputable indy shops:
- Idler pulleys and tensioners, belts, steering pump hoses
- New ambient temperature sensors (twice so far! After the last replacement I relocated the sensor with a zip tie, so far so good)
- New OEM plugs
- OEM front bumper, fogs, associated pieces, door sill trim pieces, passenger seat adjustment trim piece, kidney grills
- Rear power window regulator
- New all-season tires (Kumho ASX)
- New OEM steering rack, front and rear struts, thrust arms, control arms, all associated bushings, hoses and wearable suspension parts
- New cooling system (OEM throughout)
- New breather system, air pump, oil separator valves, gaskets, vaccum lines and hoses
Hasn't been cheap, but the car drives, starts (!) and handles likes new.
177,000 miles, 286,000 km on my 2002 540i Touring. Just got it a couple weeks ago, and the PO had dumped 10k into parts/service in the last 2 years so all the major issue areas are taken care of. BMW is mailing me a 56 page service history since it was a one owner car, some of the maintenance was also done at an indy for the 'easier' stuff like suspension and engine work.
Has minor rust around the hatch, hood seams, etc. No mechanical issues. The PDC sensor is burned out, the windshield washer tubes in the hood have cracked and need replacing.

145,000 cooling system overhaul. No problems.
Yes, I got it cause its Hard to keep clean. 530I... Black
And I've done the high mileage maintenance in the past year; alt, valve covers, upper t-chain cover gaskets, rear diff seals. Cooling systems in the next year.
6 spd swap, M5 diff, M5 steering box, B&G springs, G.A.S. Monoballs, M5 rear chasis braces, Eibach rear swaybar, EBC red brk pads, EBC slotted rear rotors,
StopTech frt rotors, StopTech brk hoses, aFe CAI, 4" MAF, M60 Manifold, N62 Throttle Body, DUDMD Stg 2+ w/ SAP & EWS Deletes,
muffler delete w/ Magnaflow tips, 18x8/9 style 69, BMW lip spoiler, Hella G4 projectors, & 1.4 bar coolant cap.
Did you do those as preventatives or was the car needing them already? My 540i/6 is only at 39970 miles, hoping it won't need those repairs for a long while yet. Has way more dead pixels than yours though (yours is either still perfect or has it been repaired?)And I've done the high mileage maintenance in the past year; alt, valve covers, upper t-chain cover gaskets, rear diff seals
172,000 miles. No major issues, but like others, I have several inches thick file of receipts for both maintenance and repairs. I perfom most maintenance per the "old school" method preferred by the tech in Roundel magazine...so trans and diff fluids changed every 30k, and oil/filter every 7500 miles. Though not absolutely required, I replaced all the suspension control arms, endlinks, anti roll bar bushings, steering center and left/right tie rods in the past year with oem. Also required new rear ball joints...they were developing some play. At around 123k miles I did a complete cooling system overhaul to include all new cooling and heater hoses, pullies, tensioners, belts, thermostat, water pump, radiator, expansion tank, etc, etc. valley pan gasket has been done a couple times during my ownership, as well as valve cover gaskets. Did front wheel bearings around 100k, still have the original rears.
2001 540 M-Sport (cdn), ST X (KW) coilovers, H&R 15mm spacers, Eibach anti roll bars (28mm/18mm), Beastpower rear antiroll bar brackets, M5 rear chassis reinforcements (traction rods), Strong Strut front upper strut bar, Dinan Stage 1 software, factory M-Audio subs, Bavsound speaker upgrade, Bluebus bluetooth integration, Stop Tech SS brake lines, ATE coated brake rotors, ATE ceramic brake pads.
320,000 on my recent purchase for a '99 528it from a PO (original owner who bought it brand new). Dealer maintained with receipts. Bought it with a bad tranny with 310,000 miles for $1300 and have logged in over 7,000 so far so good.
202466 km and no signs of problems - yet

Almost no one seems to have replaced their MAF or ABS module.
Are these repairs more rare than forums tend to imply?
