Will post more updates as soon as exam week is over
Saw that car on craigslist a while ago, looks like an awesome starting point! I'm forever jelly of Euro lighting.
hey wokke,
Yes i forgot to add that i will be doing the
HID kit
full csi kit including mirrors.
homelink retrofit
i just pmed you regarding those thrust arm bushing.
know if i can get a set local?
I have never seen the carpet you have where the CD changer should be like this.
Only other one I've seen is on one of Wuffer's cars - IIRC he tried to get a part# off the back but it was only a partial and he couldn't match it up with anything. It would be great if the OP could pull the panel and see if a full number could be found...
Nice project, I also plan on doing a supercharger soon. an as for the sun roof, it looks better without one plans for the coilovers?
I am in support of everything except the "rewrap" of the interior in Alcantara.
1. With such low km, your stock Nappa leather interior is probably nicer than 90% of the E31s left in the world, and there is nothing wrong with leather seats.
2. Unless you are able to source genuine Alcantara, which is over $80/yard, any other microfiber "suede" from an upholstery shop will look cheap, and will not wear well over time.
3. The things that people do in order to "set their car apart" are the same things that make them end up blending in with all the other junky old BMWs. It's the most original looking cars that people are in awe of at the meets. These are the rarities - the ones who have been upgraded subtly without being bastardized by an owner during its lifetime.
Even the supercharger can bolt-on-and-off, but the interior is delicate and only original once.
I will say though (from personal experience) that supercharged BMWs are fun, but they are not always easy to own. With aftermarket forced induction, be prepared to give up a significant amount of "normal engine behavior" and reliability.
This is just my personal opinion. Thanks for sharing your car with us. It is really beautiful. The 6-Speed and that differential will spice it up significantly!
Looks great Wokke, Thanks!
I was always under the assumption that a sunroof was standard on these. You really do learn something new every day.
Olin does bring up a good point on the interior. The condition I presume is fantastic. My only (personal) gripe is that it's tan.
Anyway, looks like a noble project. You have an excellent starting point.
hey guys my bad. By interior i meant im doing the headliner and read deck shelf in charcoal alcantara.
Same stuff that comes on the e39 m5 and as for the HID kit not sure yet. any recommendations??
Also soon as i get a chance ill try and see if that part numbers still there for that trunk lining panel.
