No pictures. Bummer!
Any chance anyone has this backed up offline or that we could get photos re-added? I need to do this procedure and this guide looked like the best.
Incase anyone else is looking at this out there here are the two other options, I was looking at:

I had a display to practice on and decided to just pay to get it done. It's probably easy after you've done a few and have the right tools, but it can be an expensive learning curve.

Hi,
I got to grips with the removal of the cluster quite quickly. Reckon I can now get it out in about 10 minutes!
Your advice on stripping the cluster is absolutely ace! I'm definitely going to go the drilling route as I am
somewhat concerned about the possible misalignment/damage if I try to remove the dial plate.
Just one thing I could do with a bit of help on though, how will I know if I am buying the right ribbon cable?
I remember reading somewhere that there are carbon ones as well as the more conventional flexible PCB type.
Is there any preference.
The label on the back of the cluster reads "VDO 110.008.784/308" plus "BMW 62.11-6 914 893".
Does that tell you anything useful?
The vehicle is a 2003 BMW 530i E39 Individual.
If there is any advice you can offer on where to buy I would be most grateful.
Best Regards
Tony Norton
I've just recorded this tutorial for the E39 cluster removal, hope it helps someone attempting to do the pixel repair. Ugh that pixel repair doesn't look fun. I'll be attempting this soon.

Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I just got an LCD from eBay and installed it into my cluster. Everything works, but the screen is too dim. It brightens up when I look at it from the side, but dark when I look at it straight.
All 5 bulbs at the back work.
What could this be?
check BAVTEK website. radio pixels also. what a pleasure to deal with. the owner called me and told me he was driving to UPS now and sending it back. gauge cluster too quick turnaround and fair price 129 guaranteed. perfect work.
