    Blower Motor ruckess.

My blower motor works fine, but when you put it on 3 or 4 power it rattles, on 4 it is so bad it sounds like my car is going to explode. Id like to fix this issue for faster heat delivery in the cold. Anyone know whats wrong?

Ive opened up twice and checked to make sure their wasnt like a rat living in their and all the part around it are fine, not loose at all. I dont get where this rattleing is comming from.

    Please help, thanks.

    Model: 1987 BMW 325ic

One or more of the fins have come loose on the fan cage. When you turn it up, they deflect out far enough to interfere. Fix is to replace the fan. Alternately, you can swap cages. It depends on your mechanical aptitude.

maybe it's the bearing. take the cowling and the plastic cover off but dont undo the retaining clip and turn the fan on. c if you can track iy down that way.

Took the front cover off and on 3 setting its fine but on 4 it still rattles. Blower motor was just replaced, its from a low miles e30.

And its too late tonight, gets dark at 4 in seattle, will work on it tomarrow.

Im a newb mechanically. And are the fins your talking about the things that let the air into the blower cage? The flaps on the side?

They are the big plastic things that look like hamster wheels. As you just installed it, I'm thinking maybe the fan wasn't seated correctly.

its most likely the bearing unless it is not installed correct. just did mine last night too on one of my e30s, also i had replaced it last year and it broke again this year. not that hard to do. easier then any other bmw

The bushing (bearing) is usually more of a squealing sound. Interference with the cage usually sounds more like a rattle.
