    ls1 e28. the build begins

(told to move thread to this section)

hey everyone. Im drew. New to the bmw world as of today. Picked up a 86 528e from my buddy Ross. This build is going to be far from normal and its deffinately going to be a fun ride. Ive owned some nice cars over the years (07 F1A procharged Mustang and 08 Compound Boosted Shelby GT500). I sold the shelby at the end of August and decided to go a completely different route. After a few months of thinking what i want to do, i decided to buy my friends bmw. Tomorrow im going to pick up the second car for this project, a 2002 Z28 camaro. Im swapping everything from the Camaro over to the bmw. LS1 and all. Since the motor is going to be out of the Camaro, i will be sending it out to Texas Speed and having them install a forged crank, Mahle Pistons, Forged H-beams, Ported heads, ARP 2000 head and main studs, Texas Speed MS4 cam, Double Roller timing chain, Texas speed oil pump, ls6 intake manifold, and then adding a D1SC procharger onto the car. American Racing Headers is going to be custom making some longtubes with 2" primaries and then 3" all the way back to borla stinger mufflers. Im taking the t56 and tossing it in the garbage and replacing it with a tr6060 from tremec with a single piece driveshaft. Im putting the stock camaro rear end in the bmw with 4.10 gears.
For suspension, my plan is to do Bilstien Coilovers and tub the rear end of the bmw to tuck my ccws. Im going to do 18x8 and 18x12 ccw SP16a wheels with 245/45/18 and 345/40/18 Nitto Invos. Im going to be using a Aeromotive fuel pump and fuel system with the car. Appearance wise, i dont have much in mind. I was thinking of doing wide body but i dont know where the find any kits ,if there are any at all.

Im expecting to see somewhere near 700rwhp when its all said and done.

Im sure plans will change as the build continues.

for now, a few pics when i picked it up today.

Doesn't the brake booster on the driver side take up quite a bit of room on the E28?

Are you serious with those colors? Leave the car black. Good luck on the build I look forward to watching your progress.

Shit man, if you're going to replacement all that stuff you should just sell the motor and trans from the camaro buy a stroked El Toro short block from Scoggins Dickey and some Ls3 heads. Pirate sensors wiring oil pan and feads.
I wish I could buy the Camaro p'train, just not ready.

I'd be interested in the T56, clutch flywheel and master cyl, etc if you really do want to be rid of it.

Sound like a very fun project, but I'm also very curious to see how you going to fit the supercharger in there.

    Looking forward to updates!

the supercharger fitment is what im concerned with the most. I havent bought anything yet so im gna measure stuff out and if it comes down to it, i just put a BDS 8-71 blower on it instead.

If you don't mind something sticking out if the hood, there are several more efficient positive displacement blowers out there than an old BDS. Whipple makes some nice units.
