New Hampshire just gave birth to another running turbo E36 today. The crew worked until midnight last night. This makes 4 turbo E36, at least known ones owned by forum members, in our small state. We need to round out Northern New England with examples from Maine and Vermont. The OP is in Maine, so hopefully it will be on the road soon.
If all goes well it will be on the road tomorrow. This build is largely in the hands of my tight schedule though. I get 4 hours or so to test it out tomorrow, and then its off to school for another month. Hopefully my adaption works itself out. If not, im scheduled to have it cleared on tuesday.

I've never heard of OBDII adaptation issues here on the forums.
Is this something that normally happens behind the scenes?
Is the DME specific to your VIN?
Does it need to be flashed to "align" with the rest of the electronics?
Is that what you mean?
So the cruise control cable fixed the high idle issue
but there are still problems?
cmzwirner
i dont suppose u know the outside diameter of the compresser and the exhaust housing on the pt6262 or could measure it up for me pls?
trying to work out some clearance issues :P
regards James
I haven ever heard of them either up until i had these problems. When i was first having these problems, i removed the ECU and sent it down to philip. His car showed the same problems up until adaption was cleared.
This proves that adaption can carry over my specific problem to another well sorted car until the adaption in cleared from the ECU.
Currently my idle problem has been fixed, but the AFR's are off. The AFR's are similar to the ones Philip was getting when the adaptions were bad on his car.
Im going to try to drive it though. Maybe it will work itself out because it has been run for so little time.
Uhhh. Ill get you rough measurements. It would be better to contact precision directly. They have detailed drawing of all of that stuff.

OP, what did you use to clean the tops of your pistons?? I've read so many different opinions.
This is my signature....
Any plans for dyno or 1/4 times before school starts up again?
Shopping for a new turbo and this is on my list...

Im planning for a dyno. 1/4 mile times may come at a later date, but there arent many drag strips around here. Ill try to get you as much info as i can on this turbo though.
Remember that this is a journal bearing unit. Ball bearing will improve its overall performance.
So many different things. The carbon buildup on the pistons was as hard as a rock. I dont know how people got away with using brake cleaner and a rag.
I used a razor blade to cut the buildup down to where it was very thin, and then i used scotch brite pads and brake cleaner to get rid of the rest of it. The valve reliefs were tough to get, so i just chipped most of the carbon from them with the razorblade and didnt even bother with the scotch brite.
I had to flush the coolant and oil ports very very well before i buttoned it all back up, just to be safe.

Thanks for the reply. How did you go about flushing the coolant and oil ports?
This is my signature....
I ran denatured alcohol through them. Then i sprayed brake cleaner through them to get the tough stuff. I pulled my oil pan after that so i could clean it out. It might be harder to do if you arent planning on pulling the pan.
Alright so.. I have it idling at around 14.7, but there is a problem. It fluctuates from 14.7 to 15.X. Those fluctuations are also accompanied by deep exhaust "booms" interrupting the constant, repetitive exhaust note. For example:
Exhaust note at 700RPM:
bum bum bum bum *deep boom followed by lean condition* bum bum bum. And then repeat.
The idle stays constant. The needle doesnt move. Is just just a product of a catless 3" system?

Take note. Do not use brake clean inside of engine.

It sounds like you car is doing what it should be doing with spark plugs with a small gap and an ecu that needs a bit more learning. You just need to drive it. Mine would not idle when I first got it going on the new tune and it eventually sorted itself out.

Looks pretty normal. Go drive it.
Should i be worried about the AFR's spiking(leaning out) after i rev the car? It went into the 17's.

I did a .140 HG job on a TTS2 car and it smoked/ran like shit for a while. As others said, I'd just idle/rev it for a while and go drive it. See what happens.

Went out and drove it. I dont have my aux fan set up right now so i didnt drive it for long. About 5 minutes. But the car ran rough for a bit, and then started to sort itself out. This is a really good sign. The AFR's at idle have gone from 10.5 to 14.0's ish. Im going to start it again to see if cold startup is any better than before.

Dude it's fine. Get your fan working, check fluids and drive it. Happy Easter!
Hell yeah,
just floor it.
Don't look at the AFRs.
Don't even look at the road.
Just punch it.

That's not bad, if it BILLOWS out when you get one it, or when you rev it idle'd then we have a problem which is probably a bad turbo.
Think I have that exact issue right now and plan on swapping out my turbo hopefully sometime this week once I find something to borrow / buy to test my theory.
