New AEM Infinity 10 standalone ECU

I personally have a low regard for AEM computers due to the number of failures I've personally seen (on a pcb/hardware level) but, they're releasing a new unit. Supposedly stopping development on the AEM 2 (wow that was quick) and supporting this new platform:

Looks good on paper, but its an AEM. Will be interesting.

Sure didn't spend much time with the v2 EMS... I wonder what their pricing will be like on this thing.

    That's part of the fun.

It's like bingo - never know when your motor is going to yell out in excitement... then be suddenly silenced by the sheer ass rippin' joy of 72 degrees BTDC timing.

Lets see - are we to include engine repair costs in this?

Yeah kind of surprising given that unit just came out a couple years ago if that, and really didn't clear the crap list from the v1. Hrmph.

Again, it looks good on paper... but its an AEM. So, you have to keep that in mind.

I think MSRP is aimed at $2300 which I personally find too high for an AEM box. They will need to actually sell for in the $1600 - $1700 range to be competitive. $2300 is too much.

It will not sell to our market. Others will purchase while many view.

Agreed. Only AEM electronic thing I owned very briefly was they methanol controller.
It fried itself after 1 day.

I hooked the pump up to a spare PWM output on my VEMS and mapped it in the EMS, and threw the piece of junk controller in the garbage. If I hadn't had the failsafes set up in the VEMS (cuz I didn't quite trust the AEM to begin with, but it was a gift so W/E) it would have likely cost me a motor. (this was a 540WHP 2.8L on 22psi, so the meth was very much a requirement for things to stay together)

Never will anything AEM end up on any of my cars...

I hope they have alot of firmware programmers. Otherwise this is just fancy hardware.
It doesn´t event do inductive coils, it seems you need an external amplifier.

Overall it´s not all that and certainly not the most advanced .
With great challenges comes great engineering.

    AEM Infinity ECU

Here's a good in-depth preview of it from SEMA:

    http://www.apexspeedtech.com/aem-inf...from-sema-2011

I agree that there are going to be questions about hardware & software reliability and stability, but I also think they have improved significantly with their more recent products. If they get the feature set right along with the reliability, this is going to be a tough act to follow!

    Kind Regards,

    Neel

This is a great Engine management system. I was able to use it first hand at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

We should be getting an infinity shortly and I will be testing one out in my car. I hope to see great results.

Keep a fire extinguisher handy!!! Or wrap it with the DEI header wrap. Use black silicone spray for durability!

It's no wonder their cars are not the fastest in the states.

I guess they had hoped the new firmware for the V2 (adding flex fuel etc) would stop the bleeding - I think they've lost a lot of market share to proefi. I guess this is their next attempt regaining some of that.

We have installed and tuned hundreds of cars on aem. Mostly imports, and our results have been great overall.

I look forward to using the aem infinity I'm sure it will work out well. The new infinity has a failsafe for everything, it will rock
