    New e21 owner! :P

    Hello people of bf.c,
    i recently purchased a 1983 320i aplineweiss e21
plan on using it as my daily driver, only problems so far is a rough fuel supply when engine is cold, and the blower motor or heater core is shot, upon turning on fan/defrosters it whines like a bitch.
seats are sun-baked and crack upon blunt contact.
drivers seat is all duct taped up :P
you may remember my thread a while back concerning the same car.
    here are some pics.

Haha nice leopard tape! Unfortunately the bad heater fan is so typical it's practically guaranteed, and they are quite expensive. The good news is that the heat works fine without the fan so long as you are moving even slightly.

Nice looking car! Even Blue duct tape until you find a seat of seats will help...

As for the blower fan, at least it works. Here is a SIMPLE fix: pull the black cover from the drain trough in the engine bay to expose the blower fan. I think it exposes the wiper motor too. (been a while). You will see bearings that roll with the fan blower. Spray PB Blaster on BOTH sides of BOTH sets of bearings and run the motor. Yes, you will smell PB Blaster for a little while, but the noise will go away! I did this about 2 years ago, and the blower is STILL quiet! Good luck...

spency, glad to have you aboard. you'll find that the E21 is not quite as competent as the the E30, but this actually makes it more fun as a daily driver.

as far as the lumpy idle, we can get that fix for you. it will require some testing. why don't you start a tread with a title like 'bad idle, how do i fix?'

So much potential, and well bought! (although I don't recall what you paid for it).

Welcome. I think we pretty much have the same car. Only difference is the color and the leopard tape.

    Looks like cheetah to me.
It's cool, and way better than "hot pink" duck tape.

    Nice score, OP

Hey you got it! Good shot. Understand you need a couple of wheel dust covers. I got some, they're yours.

It's not that simple. You would have to cut the mounting brackets out of the car and make new ones to weld in.

actually it's not that complicated. the old seat perches are spot welded and have to be removed so the seats can bolt to the floor. the floor however is not flat so something is needed to level the seats. i used a piece of 1x2 C-channel and scribed it to match the shape of the floor and then through bolted everything using large flat washers underneath the floor pan. you could just use stacked washers.

here is the result. cheaper to buy then recaros, easy to find replacements, better seats then recaros, and since i already modified the mounting, i can fit any race bucket later. i paid $35 each at the local pick and pull for these.
