I'd agree with this. The auto is great for cruising, but can be made to kick down at certain speeds when you need it. When it doesn't, you still have a fairly healthy chunk of torque available which helps build speed nicely. From 70mph to 100mph+, speed builds at a surprising rate.
I also agree with those comments that the engine is less likely to have been stressed when compared with a manual. It's actually quite difficult to red line the auto, unless you change out of D and into another gear.
That car did look sweet. Cloth sport seats, Mtech 2 wheel, nice paint, ellipsoid smilies.... I'd have jumped on it.
i was in the same situation my dad found a e30 from his buddy and i liked it. it was a e30 325i mtechII, it was a awsome car but then i found out it was a automatic but i just thought to my self and the practicalaty of a auomatic is way better than a manual but not funner. so now i have the car in the garage
Maybe I'm lazy, but I have a 5 speed ix as a toy car, but I would never say no to an auto e30 for a daily, sitting in traffic, going to worn etc. I'd take that over my Nissan Altima!
