attempting stomp test on my car

something i will tell you, i had to figure out that i had to remove my foot from the pedal after every push, and it has to be all the way to the floor. very deliberate. all down, off the pedal and back all down, repeat...
Hmm. I don't think I removed my foot completely away from the pedal, but I did push all the way down and allowed the pedal to come back up all the way. I will try again this afternoon.Originally Posted by m10n
Update:
Tried again, EML light turns off, I stomp and hold for a quick moment, let my foot completely off, did this a total of 5 times, CEL stays lit. No blinking into a code of any sort. I give up.

Mine was working as I've been running some tests as my CEL has stayed on since i installed performance chips and the provider is giving me guidance in troubleshooting. I just swapped the chips last night to the other DME last night and now suddenly the stomp test no longer works and I 100% know how to do it because I was doing it successfully with this same car before that swap. Very odd.
Temporarily not working as it turns out.

Did anyone ever figure out why the stomp test didn't work? I have a 91 6spd and I am having the same problem as the original poster with a non functioning stomp test.
I think I had to have my door closed when I did it last.

I tried again with the door closed, and still not working. Is there an alternate method for 6 speeds since they have no kickdown switch?
I don't know if there is a difference between auto and manual (I have an auto). Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have a 91 six speed manual and it works for me..You don't really have "stomp". It took me a little while to interpret the blinking and the codes...there are other threads here that have more detail I believe. I never could figure out how to clear it without removing batteries.

On my '95 3 series the stomp test worked in the past and then would not work when I tried it recently. I found the throttle cable had stretched/loosened so when I stomped the gas pedal it did not fully open the throttle. The TPS (throttle position sensor) did not send a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) signal to the computer. I adjusted the cable and the stomp test works again.
So, if you cannot get the stomp test to work, check the throttle cable and then the TPS.
I just wanted to follow up with I finally got the stomp test to work on my 6spd car. I hooked up the car to INPA to view throttle opening status on the EML(full throttle vs. Idle.). It turned out my throttle was not fully opening. I had to readjust the throttle stop below the accelerator pedal until it registered fully opening on INPA. After doing this, the stomp test now works. I'm getting 1222 and 2222. I think i got a bad injector, as everything else has been replaced.
