Correct, but if someone wanted to dive into the ETM they could see if the signals are the same, and then that's one less thing to fab up.
The abs lines are barely in the way of the headers as far as i can tell. I can get away with bending the lines back a little bit to make more room. The booster is already cleared with a slight offset, so all I am going to have to do is build headers to clear the steering shaft! Wahoo!!!!! this is exciting i just cant believe how good this engine and transmission fit into this car with the 99 fbody oil pan i have great clearance from the crossmember, it literally looks stock!
That is the beauty of the swap.
I know the master cylinders are the same between an OBD1 318 and a 325. However, I'd be willing to bet that the ABS controller is different too. They're different for a reason, it's not something I'd be comfortable modifying without having a VERY good understanding of how the system works,a nd WHY they're different between the different models. Perhaps somebody here is familiar with those, but the ABS system is not something I'd be advocating to people reading this as ok to be playing with.
I guess it depends on what your skill level is as far as electronics. Would I adapt and go? Nope, I'd have to send it to an electrical engineer friend. but alas, just an observation.
Well good afternoon fellas. I am no longer going to build custom headers from a kit and im going to use the Sanderson CC1LS1 and cut the drivers side up. So will the regular set work (with some cutting) or do i need to mix and match them the way Steve Van s did on his e30. E36Ls1 could you explain exactly what you did to the drivers side as far as where did you cut the flange and just more details of what was done to make it work. Thanks.
Kenndoggy pretty much sums up how I did the header. Except with the E36, you need to flatten the elbow a bit where the steering shaft is. Make sure the elbow hugs the block. You won't be able to use a flared out oil pan.

Question about ABS and brakes. Is it physical relocation abs module and extending connector wires for abs pump only job for abs system to work properly? Is it needed any rewiring to ls pcm or something else?
Relocate, extend wires, extend lines, then you are done.
Foler are you building a ls1 m3? Where are you at in TX. Im in Houston.
no no, I will be swap ls376/525 into e36. I will in future travel to ohio and tx for parts. i am from europe.
before 2 hours i pay for my first part: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Swap-Gm-LS-S...#ht_500wt_1156

O I see, well cool good luck to ya. Does anyone know of an adapter i can but to connect the t56 clutch line to the bmw MC.
Depending on the style of master cyl you have....
I've got a braap modified line that will not work for me. It may work on your 98. I am pretty sure that is what Braap has as well.
Otherwise you've got a few other options.
So it will connect the t56 clutch line to the e36 MC. How much do you want for it. Do i need anything else to make the connection or is it complete.
Good thread here. I too would like to see more info on the block huggers and how they are modified.

UPDATE its getting closer and closer!!!!! I've got my high pressure PS line adapted to the ls1 powersteering. I also took my T56 clutch line cut and had it adapted to the bmw m10 fitting. This was all done at a hydraulic shop down the street. My total for both PS and clutch came out to $24.00.
I am trolling ever thread i can find to find some clarification on th 4 pump abs unit....can anyone comment on whether it works the sames as the 3 pump....and all I have to do is extend the lines and wires to the passenger side?
I do not have a DME anymore...REAL OEM shows a separate control unit..but that does not help.
I am not using AST / DSC ...just the abs.
help a guy out here...I m starting thinl about just buying a vette again LOL
PS- some good exchange on this thread!

Also there is an abs ecu under the dash not in the original sms.
The trans slopes down about 6 degrees relative to the diff. It vibrated because the Ranger shaft doesn't have cv's.
My new shaft, which goes on today, has a double cardan cv at the trans and a single ujoint at the diff (which is straight on).
