looking for inexpensive/lightweight track wheels...Any ideas?

Im looking for an inexpensive but lightweight set of track wheels that I could use for AutoXing.

Anyone know of any that are lightweight and inexpensive? Looking to go with 17" wheels

If you can find them, 17x8.5" Kosei K1's are great.

The other two that come to mind are the 17x8 BBS RK and the 17x8 OZ Superlaggera (sp?).

the words 'inexpensive' and 'lightweight' are pretty much diametrically opposed when it comes to wheels so that is a tall order to fill. You can save some money buying used rims, and to be honest most of the stock M3 double-spoke wheels are a good value. They aren't super-light, but plenty of people seem to use them as track wheels, and they take the abuse well. Besides, if your sig is correct, you've got plenty of power to overcome a little extra inertia from the wheels :

Above that, maybe some used BBS or SSR rims. You can find some decent deals if you don't need to buy right away. Still, it all depends on what you mean by 'inexpensive'.

SSR used to have the Integrals. I got a set of 17x9's from tirerack for $250 each, and I think they are around 19 lbs each. Just a little heavier than the SSR Comps. I have no idea why SSR stopped making those. Seemed like a good compromise over the SSR comps. Otherwise, it's easy to find cheap, or light, but tough to get both at the same time.

A forged wheel will be both lighter and stronger. It's ugly when the cast alloy wheels break. I like the SSR Comps.

My SSR's are 17"s (17x8 up front, and 17x9 in the rear). The fronts are 13.5lbs, and the rears are 15lbs (or thereabouts). Very light and very strong (people were concerned about a wheel being strong and so light, but indeed they are both (I have proof). But not uber cheap, think they are around $400 each on TireRack.

I think the old joke about wheels is:

    "Inexpensive" "lightweight" "Strong"

    Pick any two...

Those are just standard 1995 M3 wheels.

LTW wheels were "five" spoke (actually 10, as each spoke was double) and 7.5 up front, 8.5 in rear.

I agree on the kosei K1's, but I think they were discontinued in our bolt pattern/offset.

Tire rack is supposed to get some Kosei's soon, but I kinda figured that they would still be out-of-stock. That's why I picked up some at Evosport, but they were $210 each. The kosei's are a great wheel for the price. BTW, mine maybe for sale soon since I might be picking up a set of 17x9 SSR's for a good price.
