So after reading the thread about a decent system at a decent price I think I am going to make the leap...as a stereo newbie I just want to make sure I am not missing anything here.
Currently have a JVC KD-SH99 MP3 Deck.
*50 W x 4 Max. Power Output (like 24..27RMS)
*3x Pairs Line Out Terminals (RCA), Front, Rear, and
Adjustable Subwoofer
*4volt Line Level Outputs
*Preamp Fader Control
Pick up the CDT-61a 6.5s off the Zeb - $149 - 1 kick ea side 1 in stock tweet door location. Disconnect the stock mid.
Pick up a Crutchfield US Acoustics USB-4065 4x65 for $130 or the 4x85 USB-4085 for $180. Am I fine with the 4x65?
Rear I would like to run an IB 8" or sim in the rear deck speaker locations either making or buying an adapter. Suggestions on a IB 8 or sim? I know the prev posting suggested a 7 but with 6.5s in front I would like to use the 8 as a sub much like a Stealthbox. More amp needed? Run the off the sub Line Out I would imagine? The rear line out will also be available.
One note is that I am running a URI UD pulley....with this you typ get some dimming at idle of headlights as is. Would I need to look to a cap or higher wattage alt? Trying to keep costs down.
Anything else missing aside from some new wires...in line fuse for the amp...???
Thanks!

No way on the AMP! Get an Aura sound amp for less than $100. I got a 4 x 100 amp two years ago for $150 and I am sure they can be found for around $100 today.
for 8", get the Image Dynamics IDv3 at sounddomain. Its fairly cheap right now.

If you want a mix of smoothness and sport, buy a Mercedes

Hmmm I'd seen a number of people recommending the US Acousitcs Amp which is why I was leaning that way...will have to look into the Aura Amps as I don't know anything about them.
Will also look into those Image Dynamics.
Thanks.
Anyone else?

Not a lot out there on the Aura...
home page www.aurasound.com has their new line...
found this
6 Channel Amp - $229
That appears to be an older model....

The US Acoustics are a rock solid amp at a good price. You should have no problem with it. Check out the reveiws on it at Sounddomain.com
what is the RMS rating on your speakers you will power? I have the US acoustics 4x85 amplifier. It is being used to power boston pro 5.5's and boston pro 4.5's .. I've had no problem with it. For the money, been rock solid reliable.
Hmm per the info on sounddomain for the CDTs
Size: 6 1/2
Sensitivity: 92 dB
Frequency Response: 60-20,000 Hz
Recommended RMS Power: 90W
Peak Power Handling: 180W
Impedance: 4 ohms
Looks like I need to move up to the 4x85
The suggested Image Dynamics recommend 175W RMS...I'd rather not go to a second amp as I won't have any other rear speakers for the second 2 channels on the 4x85. Can I bridge them and power the 2 8s in series? Do I even want to? Would even that be enough power for the 8s..I know I would get more bridged...depends is the Amp would be stable right? Def some Amp/Stereo learning for me yet.

if looking at 2 amps from the smae manufacturer and model line it is most people wont be able to hear the difference between 2 power levels unless the power levelsare about half again as large.
ie from a 30 x2 to a 45 x2 the average poeon might bwe able to just barely notice a difference.
in spinal tap terms it s just one louder than 10 its 11.
a peson can perceive teh difference between .5 db maybe
you neet to double the power to get a 3 db increase.
so 30 to 60 gets youa 3 db increase. notivibale
30 to 45 gets you 1.5 db increase. noticable
30 to 40 about .75 db increase. hjust barely noticble.
so 65 watts to 85 watts. not gonna a hear it. not worth paying more for.
for your rears if yopu go with 8s what you want are 2 8 omhs subs and wire tehm in parallel to get a 4 ohm load and run that on the rear channels of your amp bridged.

Scott -
I think I'm picking up what you are putting down. I'm personally not worried about discernable loudness....worried about underpowering the speakers and distorting or damaging them as I do turn them up - if that is a concern. Maybe it isn't.
I'm getting the data point on the 2 8s in parallel...in fact Zeb has 8" Cervin Vega - Vega 88s on sale from 159 -> 59 each that may do the trick at 8ohms each. Just so long as I've got the power to push them with my rear channels bridged. Not sure how they will do IB though.
I appreciate the conversation all...I think I am learning with each new post ya'll add. Thanks.
