    need help....is it my tranny or is it my shift linkage

    sometimes when i am in first gear it grinds and pops out of gear
    can someone help me ...wtf is it....

    mine does the same thing if don't really make sure that i get it all the way in first. there seem to be two notches to get it all the way into first and sometimes i don't think i get it all the way in, and it pops out. very annoying. i don't know if it's getting worse or not, but i plan to change the tranny fluid soon to see if that helps.

    ya I will do the same and try that out and change the fluids.
    except when i am on first i make sure its in and it still pops out

    mine used to do that, and it also seem to have the 2 notch thingy into 1st, only happends when my car fluids are cold.....i have heard that many bimmer owners have problems shifting in the cold
    im thinking i gotta change my tranny fluid sometime anyways, i dunnno when was the last time it got changed since i got the car 6 months ago
