If you press and hold the power button when the car is running it will completely shut of your car. Where as with just a quick press it stops the engine but leaves accessory and stereo on until the car is exited and locked.

The traditional way is to press the button twice to get into this state. Once to stop the engine, then again to turn off accessory/stereo.

Why is this a big deal to me? Every time I come home at night I use the 'parking light' feature (pull on the highbeam lever) to turn on my highbeams for 90 seconds when I walk to my house. In order for this to work the car has to be in full-off mode.

So without knowing about pressing and holding I've been double pressing every night for a year now like an idiot.

Notice how it also pops the key out...

I'm glad to hear of this tip since I'm also a double pusher!

That's a good one. When I bought the car the salesman told me to push it twice and have the radio on so you know the car is actually off. I've been doing the double push for 5.5 years!!!! Now I need to get into the habit of the single long push... Much better

Embarrassing to admit, but I owned my 09 e91 for > a year before I realized that the tailgate has 'dual' openings, can open the whole tailgate or just the glass.

Just noticed on my new( used ) 2009 328i E90, that when you roll your fingers over all the preset numbers of the radio, without pressing, it previews what station each one is programmed for. pretty cool

and I do not have the Cig Lighter under the glove box. There is a spot where it looks like there could be one, but its just an empty hole.

    1. When I put the car into reverse, the passenger side door mirror folds down so that you can easily see the curb if you're parking on the street. It was at least a good month before I noticed that feature, and I don't know if anything else will ever bring me that much joy. It's the little things...

    2. All of the storage cubbies/compartments. They're everywhere! My husband and I bought our X1 right before we moved to Michigan (from Mississippi). It was the perfect little "moving van" for all of our personal items. Then we started noticing a lot of things that we were 1000% sure got packed... were missing. Turns out we forgot to check some of the compartments while unpacking the car. Lo and behold!
