The dinan piece can still be ordered from the website so I would think they would support it though it's a tb there's not a whole lot of support involved with a tb.

It's cool man, just thought there was another TB on the market, I'm thinking of ordering the RR TB as well. Already have their cams, euro X pipe, M50 manifold and intake.

There is another TB from bimmerworld too. It's bigger than RR. You can get it 70 or 75mm but it's much more i think like 700 dollars.

Did you guys see that Riot Racing teamed up with TRMTuning to start offering a software upgrade for both the cams and BBTB?
The BBTB software upgrade will likely resolve any CEL related problems.

Man. And RR is developing new BBTBs like crazy. I had no idea...

Hey guys,,is anyone aware of dinan milling the bottom of the TB to solve their bore issues..there is one on ebay that the bottom surface that mates to the intake manifold is milled/shaved so as there is no longer a groove for the oring? wondering if this is even good to use this way without the oring gasket..cant imagine that it is, almost bought it before seeing the bottom of it.s-l500.jpg

You can still seal it to the intake manifold, just not with an o-ring!

Wouldn't an obd1 oring sit into the manifold and seal against that TB ? I think so.

This is an OB! TB. Those units do not have the Oring built into the TB.

You are correct. OBD1 has the O-ring seated in the manifold and a flat mounting surface on TB, OBD2 has the O-ring seated in the throttle body and flat mounting surface on the manifold.

That's why M50 manifold kits come with the adapter plate pictured in the middle here since you have two seals that would mate against each other otherwise..

You can also have the stock one (or a spare stock) one bored out. That way you don't pay a premium because brand X makes it.

Except that assumes boring out this TB is straightforward. It's not.

well, I'm sure more people than Dinan and RR can or know machinists that can do so.

Of course if you want support these suppliers, one should buy one of those.

I use a bored out stock tb + bored out stock ASC tb and modified M50 manfold, thst has the M52 bracket moulded in, making it a direct P&P swap.

Hi, this is a super interesting thread. Thank you for creating it. I have a 95 325is coupe (auto unfortunately) which has basically no throttle response from 2000 to 4000 revs. A couple of days ago I went to test drive a 99 M3 which had been modified with with a Dinan throttle body, stage 3 or 4 (not sure) chip and cold air intake. I do realize that the M3 is more powerful than my 325 but this one was hyper responsive from idle to 4000. I'm looking at the same setup for my 325. Am I wasting my money?

Before you spend too much money trying to bolt on performance parts, from your description of the low rev performance, it sounds to me like your Vanos is not working properly.

I agree. It was not the TB on the M3 that made the difference. Probably a working vanos and the extra 0.8L displacement.
