How often should we replace the engine mounts?

    E36 M3's...
And what signs should we look for a bad mount?

    Thanks,

I change mine every year....after about 7 races.
For a street car, look for obvious problems like cracks and
    dry rubber, abnormal engine movement.

    Pierre,

How difficult is it to replace it?

You dont have to remove the engine but you do neet to support it to hold the weight off the mounts. An engine hoist would work perfectly. It may be possible to use a bottle jack from underneath supporting on the brackets that the mounts attach to.

Umitza, the mounts are located on each side of the engine. You will see an aluminum "arm" protruding from the block and a round rubber thingy between that and the subframe.

does anyone make polyurethane tires? mine keep wearing out.

polyurethane motor oil? Mine only lasts 5,000 miles.

seriously dudes... this is a solution to WHAT problem? It's not like this is some buzzy FWD 4-cylinder with no balance shafts. One of the main points of an inline six is that it lets you use stiff motor mounts stock without NVH problems.

    E36 M3 & E30 M3 Gp. N Motor Mounts:

A factory BMW Motorsport part. These Gp. N motor mounts made for BMW Motorsport are 20% stiffer, reducing unwanted engine and transmission movement. Helps reduce the occurrence of the E36 M3 mis-shift over-rev.
