Mike are you writing this stuff down as you do it ??? im sure there will be people like my self that are interested in doing this sort of thing for a race car with the painless wiring harness ...
I wanna do this in the E30... so i can get rid of that stupid fuse box with more fuse's then i actually need.
E30 Turbo 2.8L - 60ft - 1.70 :: 1/8th - 6.99 :: MPH - 105.47 :: 1/4 - 10.66 :: MPH - 132.53
Daily E36 M3 - 60ft - 1.790 :: 1/8th - 8.20 :: MPH - 84.68 :: 1/4 - 12.81 :: MPH - 107.05
*RIP* E36 M3 - 60ft - 1.944 :: 1/8th - 8.64 :: MPH - 80.00 :: 1/4 - 13.55 :: MPH - 99.95
Cool2seat's TTstg1 E36 M3 - 60ft - 2.123 :: 1/8th - 8.44 :: MPH - 87.71 :: 1/4 - 12.94 :: MPH - 107.95
yeah please do!
I am not really writing anything down as I go, but there are not that many steps and I remember everything I've done. I'll try to take a little more detailed pictures as I continue / finish the wiring and do a write up afterwards (after I know it works )

getting somewhere... (I think )

bigger oil cooler and aeroquip -10 an push lock fittings came in, as well as -10 push lock oil line

oil cooler installed / current engine shot

nope. I live in Texas. Never had a problem getting it up to 150 F before beating on it.
-Mike
got the starter and ignition wired, power to the fuse box and switch panel, installed DME and cover, mounted the front battery post, installed the catch can and ran lines, and the front air ducting nose panel above the kidneys.
Also hooked up the O2 and NGK wideband into the downpipe, working on figuring out how I'm going to get the cowl to fit so I can properly secure the engine harness to it. The metal is kind of beat up there for some reason, not sure what happened with the previous owner(s) but I'll figure something out.
Couple of pics

(I took more detailed pics of the wiring which I will post later with a small write up after I know it all works. Should at least be able to test accessory power stuff tonight, and then startup should be this weekend)

looking alot like my setup. i dont run a stat on my oil cool and i run the same one from the looks of it
Jacques Cousteau could never get this low
dude that's such an awesomely sick, clean setup.
Thanks More pics later. Engine bay is pretty much done except for a couple small things, and have to wire the headlights and turn signals still.
Working on switch panel and dash. MXL and wideband are wired up. Need to make a bracket for the fuse block and mount it, and then I'll run a circuit test of the optional accessory just to see if I can turn on the MXL and wideband.. if that works, then I should be good to go. Ign and starter and all are wired up. Just need to hook up my turbo drain, fill it with fluids, wire the fuel pump, and fire it. Should be able to tomorrow night if the switch panel is verified operational tonight.
(temporary break for online physics homework due in 2 hours ... )
-Mike
my wiring works
dash test fit - not secured obviously and still crooked (didn't want to cut that much but the windshield bars made it really really difficult to keep the full thing. pretty much impossible actually
accessory power on the switch panel works - wired to MXL and wideband.. soon as you flip the switch, both turn on
MXL obviously not mounted either... I'll make brackets tomorrow so excuse the ghetto test lol
I'm pretty confident in the starter and ignition setup too, so we should be able to see first start tomorrow night or mid day saturday unless I run into some giant problem.
To do before start:
-wire fuel pump
-find nuts from home depot that fit the factory grounding studs (made a bracket for the fuse block hanging off 2 of those)
-hook up turbo oil drain
-change oil / fill
-fill with coolant
-install EGT probe
-clamp / secure downpipe wrap better (dont want to bake it and then i can't move it)
-double and triple check everything
SOON!
approaching the 1 month mark for the build too. Started on sept 12. Hopefully I can have it fired a few days before then
After it fires, i'll properly secure the wiring further, secure the dash, make brackets for the MXL, etc. and do some *finishing* touches to the interior to hide the wiring as much as possible.
Still need to figure out the diff leak, fix that, fix the fubar'd threads on the shock bolt that I still haven't fixed, install DS, bleed clutch and brakes, roll the fenders heavily (although I might just skip that and go straight to cutting them, since Sean's angle kit adds 50mm to each side up front... I pretty much have to flare it for that.)

Which oil cooler is that you were previously running?
Mate that turbo manifold is a work of art. I'm guessing it's a custom made? Did you design it? It's exactly the top mount manifold I'm after. I'm planning on doing a similar build to yours but rhd. So all the other manifolds out there won't fit. So if you did buy it off the shelf so to speak. Were did you get it.?
Great build btw.
Cheers
Jonny
It's aliveeeee!!!!!!!

Thumbs up.
Thanks guys! Super stoked about it now that that milestone is covered. Anyone who wants to run a painless wiring harness in their racecar, LMK. I can walk you through it. I may post a seperate thread about wiring it if there is interest. It's really not that bad

Is the wg piping only coming off one bank or is it tied to both banks? I ran two gates off my manifold but I'm curious if one 44 would have worked off a single bank. I didnt want to run a single gate with the inlets merging from both banks.

Gotcha. You can keep it true twin scroll with a single gate if you keep it divided all the way to the gate, although it makes the piping more complicated.
