Sorry my error....I have the standard 2.5 L that it was shipped with when new.....but a 3.2 would be nice

The OP said the engine compression is around the 10.5 mark, so it should be fine with any decent petrol.

Just one more thing is interesting to me, would the S50 ITBs direct bolt-on to this thing or do they require mods ? Sorry for all the Q's, but i'm very curious about that sort of topics

Nope, M3 ITB's are not a direct bolt-on. However, they have been done on E36's. But it's a lot of work involved.

Direct bolt-on ITB's are made by Dbilas but IMO they're way to expensive for what they are.

Thank you very much for the answers.
I have read about S50 ITB's on M42, but i guess it's a gigantic fabrication work required, since M42 is 4cyl. I remember the OP (Gizmo318i) said something about cutting off the middle two ITB's. OMG

IMO, way too much work on a 6 cyl, not to mention a 4 pot. Just use a BBTB if needed.

I think Alpina used one of these in some car in a conjunction with the s50 manifold modyfied to fit the s52. Anyway, looks like a hard find, but worth the search...
Should give some improvements in the throttle response, but not as high as the ITBs i guess.

not sure for chekoslovakia but there is a reason why BMW cars have small engines there, and that is petrol cost and government tax for having bigger engine than 1.9L. You also have to pay tax to change engine block because it has to match the title numbers.

People don't appriciate how easy we got it here in great USA!

whats going on man, my name is omar and im soon moving to phoenix arizona, now let me get to my point..i dont want to be a bother to you or anything but im really interested in doing the m50 stroker, i have a spare m50 motor with m50 head. im missing a vanos on the spare motor i sold the vanos a while ago so i guess im just going to use the vanos i have in the daily driver car i have(325is). now my main question is,

    1)is the m54b30 crank a direct fit?(yes)
    2)are the m54b30 pistons a direct fit?(yes)
3)do i need e34 oil baffle?(no, get S52 oil baffle or mod the M50 baffle)
4)what oil pump do i need to use?(stock M50 with lockthread)
    5)what crank pulley do i use?(stock M50)
6)can i use my light weight 8lb flywheel from my 325is?(it will bolt on)
    7)can i use s50exhaust cam?(yes)
8)can i use zhp intake came?(yes, but might as well get S50/S52 set then)
9)what exact cam trays do i need to use(or do u recommend) for the exhaust and intake ? along with lifters and bearing caps(any M54/S52)
10)my main concern-what exactly do you have to shorten in the vanos gear? can you please specify with specific detail(anything that cuts metal will work)
11)what did you use to clean the motor like the way you did lol( engine degreaser then lots of brushing, then pressure wash it then hit it again with purple gunk detergent, let it dry, then use engine paint)

BTW im really sorry if im bothering you at all, if you dont want to help me out its ok, i do understand the whole concept of exactly what you did with the stroker but i just wanna get it right the first time so thats why im PM'ing a bunch of annoying questions.
once again sorry for the noobness

PS: it is not a stroker, it is more of a S50 clone or M50/M54 3.0L mestizo

it will prolly sound like a m54b30. but i'd like to see a video of the engine running, too.

hakentt, did you get the chance to put some numbers down, or did you put the car against something similar? I'm curious how much powerful/faster it is now.

there ar plenty of videos on youtube relating to this for ex :

    this 325i e36 has m54 crank and pistons from a 330 and it beats 330's like they're 318's

Very interesting build. All though, this makes me curious. Based on your description this combination of parts is basically a different way of building an s50. SO, besides the cost in your case. Whats the benefit of doing this as opposed to just getting an s50?
