"Lamborghini, the tractor maker, wanted to figure out why his Ferrari's clutch kept crapping out (PITA, cost a lot of money). He complained to Ferrari, and Enzo didn't do anything. Lamborghini discovered it was the same, much cheaper clutch used in his tractors. The rest is history..."
damn back into the pits, it's only a minor setback you'll only be one lap down!

Im just happy you are replying to my thread
I have never had any cars with more horsepower than this so I was probably excited earlier when I wrote that. I put a lot of work in putting it all together so testing the finished product was simply fun as hell! Thats alll
At any rate, I am excited to start doing the paint/body work soon It looks so bad right now
Got the diff out and the cover off.
Upon first look, you can see some damage on the main ring gear
The input gear doesn't look that bad....
Oh wait, yes it does!!!!

dude this build is sick. props to you just jumping in there and replacing every little thing, definitely something i want to do with my next car. I would have complete faith in any car I buy from you
I would not mind selling this car for the right price once complete or building a car for anyone interested. Shoot me a pm and we can talk.
I'll be out of the country for a week, but when I get back I'll get a new diff popped in and some video with my new GoPro Hero2!!!

how do u know so much to restore the car on point, n never have had a car with over 200 hps? lol
Selling a ZF transmission kit!!! PM me.
I think about this car every day. I wants so bad.
IM ON A BOAT!!!
Dave, has my bro Bill not come grab that diff yet? I will be back tomorrow I think but he was suppose to grab it for me..
GoPro Hero2 is siiiick. Just got some scuba footage. Car footage to come asap upon my return and the hook up from Dave with a solid diff.
Dave, Im thinking that this might end up like the SpecE36... How many diffs did we go through? like 10? haha!
The LTWs on the M-Technic used to be mine. I traded them straight up for the BBS RG-Rs on my car right now. Those were the cleanest polished LTWs ever, at least when I had them. I got them from another member in CT.
Stickley S52's break diffs... I know from experience. Can't wait to see the end result!
props on this build man! lookin good
e36 325i project, 2010 dodge charger DD
It looks like a piece of coal, lol.
Can you swap in any good ring/pinion set and reuse the clutch packs?
Holy..... What exactly causes that? When my e36 had 300 whp I beat the hell out of it and the diff is great even today..
Ouch. How'd that sound? I remember when my friend destroyed his diff and when he drained it, about a half pound of metal came out with the fluid. When those cogs let go, they freakin' let go lol
The carrier cap bolts back out over time and are sheared off, then they find their way to the ring gear and cause havoc. It happens.
If you are going to rebuild, get some grade 10.9 cap bolts from McMaster Carr and loctite the heck out of them. It helps to keep the bolts from backing out. I bet a 3.73:1 would be a lot of fun with the 6 speed.
As a fellow M-Technic owner, this is outright inspiring. I'm lucky mine is in pretty good shape. I'm hoping I can keep it alive for the next 50 years without ever having to go all the way to this point.
If you have a chance when you wrap up, if you could please just list out what all you did and what brands of stuff you used, I'd appreciate it. In particular I'm interested in the suspension parts you used. I think that's going to be my next major push this summer, and I say building a shopping list is a perfect place to plagiarize.
