Prices for ABS Control Module Repair?

Any tips on what I should expect for the total job, parts and labor?

I can't do it myself, so I am planning to shop mechanics.

ABS light, brake light and DSC light is on. Beeps once after start-up.

Mech says its the control mod.

    thanks

Also, is this an emergency to fix ASAP? Any immediate risk to losing brakes? Or just the antilock feature when brakes slammed? thanks

    Or module masters.
Google module masters, you send yours in, the rebuild it for around $250-$300.
Or. Used unit that needs to be coded to your car.

Repair job at a mechanic, not D-I-Y

I'm not looking to buy the part and do it myself...I'm curious what a mechanic might charge to replace or repair the module. Thanks.

Dane, you were right on. I got 3 price quotes, all within $100 of yours. Good call. Thanks

Another question, is there a way that I can tell that the mechanic is being straight with me that its the module, and not just a sensor or something simpler? They read the codes, but is there a way that I can tell too?

Ask them what the codes are.

    Is your speedometer not working?
Does the volume on your radio not go up?
If so then yes, could be your module.
Is your abs also not working, as in do the tires lock up when you brake?
Then yes your module is bad. Had this happen on my e39.

I've used ModuleMaster.com and they were great. It was about a week from when my module left my door to when I got a remanufactured one back. The replacement solved my problems and comes with a warranty too.

FYI, you CAN drive the car without the module while you wait for the replacement. You just won't have ABS/ASC which you don't have right now anyway.

Unhappy Prices for ABS Control Module Repair?

Same problem just started on my 05/545i. The estimate I received was for $1600. Shop stated the part is $1200 the rest is labor/tax.

    That's dealership pricing.
You can get them elsewhere new for under $500 but it will still need coded to your vehicle.
Get yours repaired for about a third of that and no coding is needed. (if it's repairable)
