Off my 95 E36 M3.
3.46 LSD differential with 40% lock, less than 5,000 street miles old. Gearing was purchased from Korman Motorworks.
Rogue engineering cover less than 1,000 miles old.
Fluid is 1000 miles old too.
Four bolt flange.
Selling for $1750obo (no core) + shipping.
I prefer not to ship, but if need be, I will ship at buyer's expense.
Dan
Saw the unit tonight in person. Looks perfect to me. And I can vouch for Dan all day long. Buy in confidence.
Lowering the price to $1500 + shipping which seems like a more reasonable offer.
At this price, my offer is firm, until further notice.

You selling the car Dan? Seems like you are selling the farm dude?
Rob Birkhead | Principal
Yes, the farm is gone too.
Im interested. What can I expect as far as gains in rpm at say like 75 mph
SOLD

Aldo - i thought youwere selling your car.. in hope of finding a nice MCoupe... whatever happened to that plan?
depending on your mods and driving skills i would say the time to get to 75mph compared to the stock 3.18 diff will be night and day. hell the 3.38 w/ 25% lu (i believe) is known to be a "poor man's SC, the 3.46 will be that much better (and this one is in better shape/condition than most 3.38 you will ever find. wish i had the $$$ for this mod or it will have already been gone. but right now i am going to do other mods. someday i will have a better diff though

Yeah M, I posted in another thread that if it didnt sell by the end of this week I was just gonna keep it and do a few more mods to it. I've got a Vette anyway can can just remove the top.
Only thing Im concerned with is losing in the power band in 1st and 2nd gear while picking up in 3rd and 4th.
And I would still be interested in the approx rmp at 70mph
SOLD

just get a LTW flywheel for better 1st & 2nd pulling

RPMs at 70MPH for a given car would depend on wheel size.
RIP SMW (5.23.04) - We miss you sweetheart!
Calculator to figure out RPMs vs Speed here:
Excell Spread Sheet calculator -
according to this calculator with stock rims:
77mph would be 4500RPMs in 4th gear, and 6000 RPMs in 3rd.

Still for sale. I have 2 offers right now for $1500 shipped. Is anyone out there willing to pay for shipping?
does the 96 M3 have a 4 bolt flange or 5 bolt flange?
- Roman
Good question. I dont know.
I was always under the impression that whether you got a 4 or 6 bolt flange was completely random. Just got outside and stick your head under the car and see.Originally posted by BGM3

Roman, you gotta crawl under there and take a look. My 95 M3 has a 6 bolt flange. Some other ones have a 4 bolt flange. I suspect you might have a 4 bolt input flange since that is the more common one I've seen on 97 M3's, but you still gotta take a look to be sure. Just jack up the rear and stick you head under there, takes about 5 minutes.Originally posted by BGM3

Eitherway, the flange is really easy to swap out. So it's not really that important, more of an convenience than anything else.
3.46 will be awesome for your NA setup...

That is a beauty!
my 95 has 6 bolt. i thought that was one of the features of a 95 & the 6 bolt flange is highly sought. or so i heard from a race shop.
Still, it is said to be easy to change the flange but otherwise you would have to change the drive shaft, right? can you still get 6 bolt flanges?
i'm curious. i want a stiffer (40%) diff but don't have the money right now.

Sheesh, I don't know what it is about Dan but he's always got the stuff I want. It's like a curse (mental note... DO NOT LOOK AT DAN'S FOR SALE THREAD) ... Ok I'll check my flanges as soon as I get home.
You still holding on to my steering wheel Dan ?
- Roman
It is simple to swap out flanges...alot easier that buying a 4 bolt drive shaft.
If it fit an ///M Roadster, it would be gone by now.
checked.... 6 bolt flange on mine.
