    1986 325e 2.7l to 1988 325i 2.5l

I have had the 1986 for about 3 years now, i believe the engine had close to 400,000 miles and it drove good til the day the timing belt jumped timing and messed up a valve. I had a 2.5l engine from a 1988 325i just sitting in the garage that we took out a wrecked bmw. So basically we got the engine in but the mechanic helping wanted to use the 325e jetronic ecu and wiring harness instead of the the motronic ecu and harness. Now I am not getting spark, but am getting gas. Basically i just want to know if that could be the problem and if not could someone tell me why or if i should use the newer motronic instead of
    older jetronic. Thanks

i know this may be a little off topic, but it sounds like you have the perfect candidate for a turbo build.

Yeah that will be my next step but i just want it to see how the engine runs first and then go from there

Pretty sure you can't use the eta ecu and harness for an i motor...can't see why you'd want to. The i motor is a much higher revving motor with a seven bearing cam versus the four in the e also injectors are bigger. Crank sensor is different and so are the plug wires...hook it up right and you'll love the difference!
