Go with MS. Call Peter Florance at PFTuning. He is the best and will make you a PnP MS unit. Also if you buy from him he offers support for 5yrs. As he is the man when it comes to tuning with MS. His package is about $1100 but very worth it. Also MS has a auto tune function were you do a pull and it will automatically set all the settings to be just about exact. I use this setting for everything but WOT which i tune on my own. Support for MS seems to be bigger also, especially with forums and such. Many people can help you out if you have problems.
yeap spoke to Peter. Its a bit more expensive than the Miller set up however it is more flexible which i like
auto tune sounds awesome

Per the ARP catalog at http://www.arp-bolts.com/
The stud kit for the M30 is PN 201-4602.
VAC has a lower price than Summit? Interesting...
now are those studs or bolts though?
IIRC you can only attach the head with studs if the motor is out of the car.. which isnt an option for me.. can i unbolt the motor mount and jack up one side?
i dont think ARP makes a Bolt style stud for my car.. which blows..

Headbolts & head studs can be installed on an e34 m30 with the block in the car. Will need to unbolt the coolant reservoir & the wiring loom from the firewall(just 2 plastic nuts each). I suggest chasing & cleaning the block threads more than you'd think. I used locktite red on the bottom of the studs, drawing them up from bottom by 3/4 turn each.
Thanks for that info man. I thought I'd have to jack the motor up from one side to tilt it enough to clear the strut tower. If you have the space in a 5er I should have plenty of room in my 7
Ive diagnosed myself with OCD or CDO in alphabetical order.. I just made all the Tbolt clamps on my charge pipes (Intercooler tubes) face the same way and at the same position and evenly spaced from each other.. i whipped out the tape measure to make sure things were exact.. should i be concerned?...
here comes some more part arrival and assembly pictures! yay..
Intercooler showed up measures 29x11x3 biggest i could find with my space available.
heres all my couplers already to go so i can just bolt it up and make the connections.
my angled adapter came in.. but its not as tall as i was hoping for so im going to have to get flanges to use as spacers to raise the turbo a bit more as i will hit the valve cover as it sits now..
head came back from the machine shop.. clean and beautiful.. now i gotta disassemble lubricate everything and reassemble..
milled within specifications..
Now i dont know what you guys use to lubricate parts during assembly but i use this. it comes out thick soaks into the metal fast and lubricates amazingly well.. i can turn the camshaft BY HAND (no tools) usually found everywhere for around $2.50 a bottle 2 bottles will liberally lubricate an entire engine assembly.
more updates in the following weeks as i start to put it all together. first start is getting closer
Your head should be ready to be put on right from the machine shop. I dont see the need to disassemble it again. Its should be all lubed and all. Also you are suppose to use assembly oil when you assembly engine parts not oil treatment.
in my defense the 3 other motors i built using this stuff are still running today.. those were years ago. and i didnt pay for them to re lube everything. so i did it myself to save money.
also i think i have this clearance issue sorted out..
only thing im concerned about is the heat from the wastegate next to the cold side of my turbo.. but then again i dont actually care.. im at the point where i just wanna get it done.. im sooo close to being finished.
Question.. for my build would i benefit more from 42lb injectors or 60lb injectors as i found both a set of 6 for the same price.. any thoughts?? ordering friday.
from here on out... il be taking pictures with the D80..

more coming later today when i wake up.. as for now i just got home from work..
What are your power goals? That will determine the size of your injectors.
4ish.. so 42lb huh.. just thought in my head if i get 60's il have room for more power.. thanks man
you'll recieve payment friday morning sir thankyou.
