Stock fpr is fine. No need to waste money on an aftermarket one.

You'll want to get oil from the oil filter housing. The oil pressure switch at the back of the head isn't a good supply & would reduce oil to the valvetrain. I got a new oil cannister with the factory oil cooler, which had a boss that I tap'd for oil supply to the turbo.
A throttle body from an m50 might be a good way to swap an m30 intake. The m50 e34 throttle cable could be used and the piping would be simple.
You really want an o2 gauge in place of the coolant temp gauge?

Stock FPR is good up to 600whp. Also stock gasket and all is good for around 350whp depending on your tune. If you are def set on MLS then make sure to look into how to prep the surfaces properly as that is critical. Look into goodntight. He is a user on here with a high power m30.

For oil pressure sensor and such i went with this:

Why wouldn't you mate the TB to the middle of the manifold?

Maybe 350rwhp but certainly not 450rwhp.

You are correct. Good&Tight had 370whp on stock head gasket/head bolts.

400 - 410 WHP on stock 9:1 M30 is totally doable all day long. Did it for over a year on a gasket with 190K miles

So do you guys think ARP headstuds are overkill? Cuz I bought some. What WHP would be safe for my transmission. Do you think I could reliably do 350-400whp?

    ARP is never overkill!!!
No idea about the trans, BMW dont seem to make very good autos. (or at least, nothing made before the mid 90's)

yeah ive got a 89 EH trans.. ARP studs are cheap compared to what i thought they would be.. so why not get them..

should i replace my valves with new ones? i figured since i have the head off and it getting a 3 way valve job and decked it should have new valves..

    what are your thoughts?

as long as the valves are sealing, they should be fine.
The exhaust valves should be inspected, as they will get a bit more of a workout when boosted.

Off the top of my head, i cant remember what to do with springs and retainers. Someone had a thread a while back that mapped the rates and pressures on different stock springs, but that was M5X/S5X - not sure if thats much help doing a M30 though.

Personally, i would strip the head, give it to a head shop in a box and ask them to give it a good going over.
When you get the box-o-bits back, you can have the fun of lapping them into their seats. I always do my own lapping, i have had a few issues over the years with head shops not spending the time (and hence money) to get the kind of seal im looking for.

Seems that your trans has been used in quite a few different cars...

ok i dont wanna touch anything cause the last head i tried to remove the cam from got hammered to death to recover the cam LMAO (i had a new head just wanted the cam for wall art.. ) so i assume a valve job and a decking should be fine..

all i have left to buy is:
    Miller MAF
    42lb injectors
    misc intercooler piping bits
    30x10x3 with 2.5 in /outlets Intercooler
    Boost controller
    new plugs and wires.
have my down pipe fabbed up
and maybe a MSD 6AL-2 for some fun..

i dont think im missing anything else.. so this build should be done by hmm around H2Oi (which i will not be attending cause id rather spend the money other things)

Your stock trans without a different converter will be very poor. Bosst will be laggy and not to fun. If you plan on sticking with an auto get a converter from TCD.

I do believe that he mentioned that he was intending to make such a purchase.

Not many people have gone FI with the factory auto. So not much info on how much it will hold. Todd at TCD had an auto for a little while with an m30 in his e28. He could have some insite to that.

I just emailed Todd to see what he had to say about it. Hopefully I can get some good numbers without worrying about my trans breaking.

Looks like my number will stay at 330whp

Just so I don't have to swap transmissions. It's not that I can't drive a 5speed. I just don't wanna go thru the trouble to do the work. Anyone wanna make some money doing it for me haha. Il buy the parts and pay to have it put on. But I don't want to mess with transmission stuff anymore.
