1999 Z3 Roadster, looking for key and EWS knowledge

I recently received a 1999 BMW Z3 and looking at getting it up to shape. I've managed to use my OBD tools on it to diagnose and resolve some engine issues, but I now have Inpa up and running and looking at other issues. One big issue is I only have 1 key and would really like to get at least one or two more just in case. I decided to use Inpa to read the EWS and collect what key information it has on hand, this is essentially what I got, (google translated from German!)

    EWS3D, V1.18

Key 0 :unlocked and already used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
Key 1 :unlocked and already used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
Key 2 :unlocked and already used
    :06 00 00 00 00 00 00
Key 3 :unlocked and already used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Key 4 :unlocked and used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
Key 5 :unlocked and already used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Key 6 :unlocked and used
    :06 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Key 7: :unlocked and used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Key 8 :unlocked and used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Key 9 :unlocked and used
    :04 00 00 00 00 00 00

Maybe it's in the translation but what is the difference between "unlocked and used" & "unlocked and already used" (freigeschaltet und schon benutzt, & freigeschaltet und benutzt")?
and what does the following digits on each keyset represent?

I tried googleing, but not much found.

    Thanks

    Roger

Replacement keys aren’t too much. Go to the dealer and order replacements. The car comes with several already enrolled. $68 last time I ordered one.

When I was shopping for a second key for my wife's 2006 330i, this was by far the cheapest place. I have no idea whether it's the best place to get a key for our cars.

EWS data is hidden, so INPA will not give you too much useful data there.
Translation may be incorrect, but I bet it meant to say unused.

Dealer key is simplest and a good route, as they're not horribly expensive.

I was able to buy an aftermarket key and chip and program myself with and AK90 key programmer. There is plenty of information online on how to program with AK90. Just do your home work there are quite a few steps and you will have to remove the EWS module just below the steering Column. The AK90 will tell you how how many usable slots you have to add a new key and program additional keys.

If you run ISTA it will show more clear status: used at least once, never been used, or active (current key in the ignition)

I am going to program my own keys. You can get them pre-cut from Aliexpress for around $5-10. My friend has the A90+ tool, but if you need one they are very cheap. Since I want to retrofit the OEM keyless with remote key I don't think dealer will be an option. The key for Z3 should be HU58 blade
