Hi,
I was doing my coolant flush today and while I can see the engine drain plugs on both sides of the v8, I doesn't seem like there is enough room to even get at them to break them loose. Is there any other method or tricks you can provide. Bastards are really in a poor spot. I literally tried everything. Is there anything I need to remove in the diagram of the engine compartment to get proper access.
Mike

They are nigh-on impossible to get to with the exhaust manifolds fitted - just remove the lower hose to the radiator, that will do the job.

Timm,
Thanks. I did remove the lowest right hand side hose and very little coolant came out. I had drained the radiator via the drain nut first.
Flush as much as you can with the easiest-to-remove hoses disconnected. Don't forget the heater/water valves, this is often the receptacle for gunge to accumulate. The heater hoses are easy to get to on the E31 once the microfilter housing has been removed:
Don't go too far in trying to remove the last dregs from the block - if it is difficult to get out, you can be sure it's going to be harder to get it back in again!
