i have this problem on my 5hp18, no forwards, only reverse, and if i put the lever into "2" it also goes to reverse, i ended up changing the sift valve selector assembly, the plastic piece broken into two. i might think of sending the broken one to a lathe shop and let them machine one aluminium for me..as for now, bought a used selector valve from a friend, i believe one day the problem will come again.
