$130 for both fog lights doesn't sound too expensive. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E30-M3-S...xUa5Cm&vxp=mtr
Get some sheet metal, angle grinder, and a hammer and I'm sure you could rig up some bracketry. Or modify the existing ones. It looks like ecstuning carries everything and it would run about $300. Which is definitely getting up there for foglights.
If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...
Ok so here's the thing..... I FOUND ONE!!! Now, I'm trying to get in touch with the owner of the car but they weren't home so I left my number. Hopefully they call and I can pick me up a sweet ride!!! Wish me luck! Here's a couple of pics.....
Good find, asu; it doesn't look too terribly rough.
Nice to know that the owner hearts cats & dogs . . . as long as he/she didn't drive 'em around in the Baur and let 'em destroy the interior!

Here is my Baur. It needs a lot of love and I won't know the extent of the repairs until I start pulling up carpets and looking underneath it properly. I think it's cool though. I can't decide whether to restore it stock and look into an ITB setup ($$$), or tastefully mod it such as lowering springs, throaty exhaust, M Tech I kit and engine swapping an M20B25.
I need to get rid of that 3rd brake light. It leaks and is just ugly.
Congrats, Russ --- you bought the Florida Baur from the post just prior to yours! Welcome to the forum.

I'm glad they only had it a month. It's where cars go to die that's for sure.
What is the current known number of Baur TC2s in the US?

ilmostro,
The last time that Tom S. put a number on it, I think it was around 200.

Had rust near the battery and under driver's door and C-pillar. Otherwise a topgun.
Upholstery on driver´s seat was also ruined.
Hope you find this post useful.
(still hunting my first Baur)
And as soon as i figure out how to post a picture of it i will!
Nathan,
I know that when I joined BimmerForums years ago, the requirement was that I had to make at least ten posts before I could post photos.
Welcome to the forum! Please tell us more about your Baur, and be sure to PM or otherwise provide the Baur number (riveted to the left front door jamb) to Tomscat1; he maintains a registry of Baurs owned here in the U.S.

I am in search of the little yellow "anchors" with locating tabs which retain the Baur top rack sections (located inside the trunk) to the body. I think that I might have seen them used elsewhere as well but I'm not sure.
In the hyperlinked RealOEM illustration below, they are shown as #14 in the lower left-hand drawing --- and of course they are "ended". There are six used in this system.

Any leads or substitution ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Russ,
Congratulations on your Baur! Is that Baur # 42676? It is kind of hard to make out in that pic. I do not see that number listed in the International Baur Registry yet.

UPDATE: I just skimmed through some of the other posts above, and I realized that this is the Baur you bought, indeed, #2676. Congrats! And it is indeed a NEW FIND, since the International Baur Registry does not have it listed!

Hi guys,
Good to be here amongst fellow Baur fans. Meet Lola, my 1985 325i TC2. I've only had her for about a year, but I'm stoked that I was able to buy her. I've always wanted a bmw of my own (my dad had one when I was young. A 318i or a 320i '84ish sedan I think), so when the opportunity came up to purchase this one through a mutual friend, I jumped at the chance.
Lola1.jpgLola2.jpgLola3.jpgLola4.jpg
Unfortunately I haven't had as much time to drive her as I would like, partly thanks to a lack of time, but also due to the fact that the rear canopy section is fragile and getting tears developing in it. Hence being a bit nervous to go out for a drive unless there's zero chance of a downpour.
I've bought a new canopy, but I'm looking for some advice on installing it. I have a tame upholsterer to help out, but he's not worked on a baur before, so we're being cautious. If anyone could help out with instructions on taking off the old canopy and installing the new one, or even better, photos, I would be massively grateful. Better to go in forearmed than make a hash of it because of some stupid mistake.
Thanks!
Alex

Ted,
Weclome to BimmerFourms and the Rare Bird thread!
Unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you as I have never had to remove the rear top or install a new one.
Your car is gorgeous, and I wish you well in it's ownership and whatever restoration it may need.

thread resurrection- i bought the blue baur that was on BaT recently.
spent the weekend picking it up in los angeles, cruising around, and then drove it home to san francisco.
it's a euro-import 323i.

Congrats, dk. It is a good-looking ride and, from what I can tell, you got it at a good price. I have owned my 320i Baur for 5.5 years and it has proven to be a real joy to own.

This is a longshot, but . . . I'm trying to buy an ignition switch (P/Ns 61321368800 or 61321374868 which was apparently a supersede part number) located in the U.S. for my '84 320i Baur, preferably new but I'll take a known good used one. This was a non-U.S. market part number which apparently saw wide usage on E30s built for overseas markets.
I'll also buy a new one from overseas if the seller will ship it fast enough; I need it within the next two weeks.

Hi Baur TC2 Owners,
I have a quick question on the handle for the targa top. The part (54210006610) is NLA. Basically it is composed of a 1) A broad flat base, 2) The actual round/triangle handle that the occupants rotate to raise the top, 3) A square assembly that mounts to the bottom of the base and which #2 presses into, 4) A flat square plastic piece and gasket, 5) two open rectangular-cross section tubes which nest together, and 6) 2 helix like assemblies that nest together.
If you order the repair kit (which I got from Ebay Europe, 54210006608, ~$60), you get #s 1, 5, 6, and the gasket from #4. Of course, in my case #2 is what is broken.
Does anyone have any advise on how to fix the handle itself? Will I have to get this custom made to press into assembly #3? Has anyone come up with an aesthetically pleasing solution?
Pictures of how the handle is attached from the factory to the nested helix assembly would be very helpful as I work on repairing this. I can post pictures of all my parts if there is confusion (I suspect my descriptions suck!)
Thanks!
Rob
Rob,
Yes, please post a photo of the piece(s) in question; I am forever repairing things deemed "irreparable" and I might be able to advise you.
