A Rare Bird: The E30 Baur

The Vintage in Winston Salem North Carolina is coming up May 24th through the 26th, I know that Jeff ( BMWtryo ) and I are going to be in attendance, There are a total of seven Baurs registered here's a link to who will be there http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...B#.UX5xJqKG284 .

I have tried to contact some of the Baur owners.... Chris I. (Baur Targa from Philly) is coming, but his Targa is not yet repaired from being hit while parked last year. He will be coming on his BMW motorcycle. I have not heard back from Reggie at Reggie's Motorworks yet. I have no direct way to contact Terry Sayther. Bruce H. is active in E1 bimmerforums, I will drop him a line. There was another white 2002 Cabrio Targa at the Vintage last year, but I don't have his info either. There will probably be a couple of Voll Cabrios there also, but I don't see any registered as such.

FWIW, I think that the '71 2002 Baur of Terry Sayther may have been the white "Targa" at Vintage '12 (there was also a white 2002 "Voll" there last year as well); photos of the Targa present at that show have been posted on this forum.

I am 90% sure that the 323i TC2 belonging to Scott Porter is the red car which I have seen at many Eurocar shows throughout the southeast, including The Vintage.

I am also 90% sure that the 318i TC2 belonging to Reggie Stewart is the dark brown car which I first encountered at last year's Vintage.

I don't think that I have ever seen the '81 of Bruce Hertowski or the the '73 of Chris Issacson.

I was recently contacted by Andrew, a 20 year old student in the Atlanta GA area, who informs me that he owns a Daily Driver "E30 323i BMW Baurtech". Since his Baur is not registered with the International baur Regisrty, it qualifies a s NEW FIND!

Yesterday, we had the B46355 ready to run. The first picture shows it's original engine (yep, that's a rod looking outside ;-)):





We used a 318i-engine because the old carbs are getting bad (mostly worn out).
