Here are two more Baurs for the TC2 roster, although I do not have the Baur numbers yet:

HarryPR posted his friend Frederick Miranda's TC2 323i Baur from Puerto Rico in Facebook today:

And Baur owner bam2002 is the owner of this one:

    Winter Is here

Well it's that time of year here in the Nor' east when the weather turns to crap and all the nice cars go away including my beloved Baur. It has three weeks since I have driven it and with first snowfall predicted for tonight the reality that the Targa season is over with has set in.
The spring, summer and fall of 2012 has been a banner year for my TC2 I drove it a lot. I put almost 7 thousand miles on it this year, and they were most memorable!
The high light of the past season was the Vintage at Saratoga, I finally got to meet the Baurspotting man himself Tom S. and many other fantastic people who also happen to own Baur BMW's . The second gathering of Baur cars at Bavarian Autosport show and shine in October was another milestone for me as it was the first time I had attended a show that every generation of Baur cars were present.
I am planing to get some things done this winter on the car, I 'll save my plans for future discussions ITT.
To all of you in the Baur community I want all to know how important you have become to me ( "This thing of ours" ) I't good to a part something like this. Thank you .
Next year we will have more Baurs at more shows !

I second that! And thank you for saying it!

It was a great year, and it really was a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet you, and the many other Baur owners who came out to the shows.

I too look forward to bigger and better things next year! We are just getting started!

....not all of us put our Baurs to bed for the season!

Best wishes to you and yours for the season!

    Ed,

I, too, appreciate the year-end synopsis.

You have me beat by "2K Baur miles" driven this year. I haven't put my Baur to bed just yet; down here in the NC foothills we can sometimes drive until Christmas or New Year's Day before the snow (and salt) hits the roads.

This winter I plan to install the radio you sold to me, make some repairs to the HVAC system including a replacment wiring harness which I bought from Jenka Korman (BimmerGuts) and perform a few other fixes here and there.

I normally Only drive around 2k a summer , however we had such a mild winter last year that I started driving it very early in the year and drove it right to the end of October which is normal.
I am not sure on full plans on my winter improvements I have this and I have been thinking of doing something with it.

M20B23? Isn't that what your Baur already has? Or are you thinking of dropping that into the E21?

I have had this engine for a while now it is a extra one i picked up and i've wanted to do something with it and i havethought of building a Hartge H23 spec motor with it, another one of the things i do want to do is get my Baur's engine compartment detailed or even painted which is on the list of this years to do list before next spring, along with exhaust work, and new clutch kit for it I don't need a new clutch as far as I know however if i going to drive to North Carolina next year i'd feel a lot better going on a new one. I also have the very minor and very M20 oil leak i'd like to address.

Big news tonight, folks. Remember this car?

This is a 1976 BMW 1502 Lumma Conversion Convertible. You may recall that it was seen in Washington DC, and posted in BMW 2002 FAQ on 8/14/2011. It was originally from mye28.com, apparently.

Rather a sad-looking example of an extremely rare car, isn't it? But..... how many Lummas are there in the world?

    http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/201...onversion.html

As you can see in the comment at the end of that post, I was contacted this afternoon by a fella in MA who purchased this car last June, and has since done considerable work to bring it back to life!

    http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/201...onversion.html

I will add more info as I communicate further with him. He will be sending along some pics in the next week or two. We really look forward to hearing and seeing more of this very rare example!

Does anyone know how many Lumma convertible conversions there may be in the US?

    Stay tuned!

I know this car. Saw it recently at a local meet too. Enthusiast owned, but not an E30 or baur guy.

Thanks for posting. If you see the Baur again, please extend an invitation to the owner to join us here, and on Baurspotting. We'd also be indebted to you if you could get some pics, particularly of the Baur plate number, located near the door hinge in the driver's door jamb.

We can't do this without the help of the eyes and ears of Baurspotters like you! Thank you!

A friend of mine found this TC2 on a BMW 2002-forum:
    TC2@2002faq

The 551423 on the side seem to be the VIN: B43261-13, a once polaris(silver) 318i.

Oh, Dear Lord! Can someone in California please strip that car of all useable parts --- then ensure that the remainder gets crushed to put a merciful end to its lifetime of indignity? Who would commit such aesthetic atrocities to a vehicle as rare and as beautiful as a Baur?!?

Yes, there I go on another "butchered Baur" rant, but . . . .

On another note, where do I get one of those somewhat-chunky-but-still-cool Baur TC2 models? I once saw such a car on eBay for about ten bucks + shipping, but I passed on it --- thinking that surely I could find a more accurate model of a Baur for reasonable money. Guess what? I can't!
