Hi Tom,
829 meant; no glass at the rear and no rooflining. These where useless for a Baur. Unfortunately I don't know how they transported these cars from Munchen to Stuttgart.
The B43705 was delivered to AH Junge in Hamburg, after being converted on the first of March 1985.

Jeroen, How long did it take to convert a vehicle, was it days, weeks, ? and is there any record of how many vehicles were ordered for customers vs dealer stock ?

Tom,
I don't know why you are getting such a result. Have you tried plugging-in only the last seven digits of the VIN? If that produces a "fail", try plugging-in the entire VIN.
If I had an E21 VIN to insert, I would be glad to try it for you . . . but all I have ever used on it are E30 VINs. Since the "header" shows a variety of different Bimmer models on a rotating basis, I simply assumed that it recognizes all.
As to the AutoMerge feature: I know that there is a way to override it because those with "WTS" items over in the "E30 Classified" section frequently use that method to "bump" their threads. Perhaps one of them could clue you in as to how to do it.
I have never really understood how that is accomplished, but I do know that overriding AutoMerge is discouraged by the administrator. Still, BFers with more computer smarts than I seem to do it all the time . . .
Jeff
1984 320i Baur TC2 5-Speed Opalgrün (Jeff's)
1987 325e Sedan A/T Zinnoberrot (Dawn's)
1984 633 CSi 5-speed Bronzit (Ours . . . if she says so)
I did finally get it to work for all three E30s after numerous tries, but I cant get any results at all for any of the E21s. I think it may not go back that far.
I have stumbled on a 'work-around' for the automerge.... but it occasionally leaves a little bit to be desired..... not a 100% sure thing.
I undesrtand how the 'bump' works, more or less, but those bumps are usually spread out over time.... I can't always wait that long.

As fate would have it I decided to take my lunch break outside of work ( something I never do) I normally eat in , since it is a nice sunny day and drove my Baur to work I thought I'd take a cruise so I poped the tops and off I went. Driving down the Danial Webster highway in Nashua sitting at a Burger King I spotted a cream colored E21 I couldn't tell if it was the TC1 we have looking for and it was !
I pulled up next to it and parked, the owner was no wher insight, I went in the BK and it was a ghost town , I sat and waited for 20 minutes or so I need to get to work, I went back into the BK and asked for a piece of paper and was given one I was just about done writing the note when the owner showed up.
I was able to get all his information and I'll be in touch with him. I had chance to tell him about the Baur community in the US and how i have been searching for the car.
The NH E21 Baur TC1 has been found ! More to come !

Fantastic, Ed!
Let me know if I can help in any way. I am not sure what features qualifies a phone as a 'smart phone" ...... Are you able to text the pics?
One possibility if you run into difficulty: if you can text them, you could text them to me, and I will post them, credit to you, of course!
Also, perhaps the owner can join us and post some of his pics.
I have to be out for a few hours, but I will check back in later on. Eager to help, if I can.

OK, sounds great, Ed! Great job, once again, btw! This was really an amazingly serendipitous encounter!
Reminds me of that old saying.... the harder you work, the luckier you seem to get! Wow. I know you have been looking and hoping to find this Baur. And now BAM! You did it!
Two known Baurs in the entire state of New Hampshire and the one finds the other on a lunch break! Amazing. I love it!
It reminds me of an apochryphal story (although with a much happier ending in this case) that sometime around 1910 there were two cars registered in the entire State of Missouri.... and, you guessed it, they had an accident in downtown St. Louis!

As you may have seen in yesterday's post, THEPOOLEMAN spotted the elusive New Hampshire Baur (that we have been on the alert for since last December) near a Burger King in Nashua, NH on 6/1/2012. He was on his lunch break from work when he alertly spied it. We should note that THEPOOLEMAN has stated on several occasions that he was on the lookout for this car in his home state, which we only knew from a couple of pics that we had: it was white, appeared in very good to excellent condition, and sported New Hampshire plates "YESS". We had no idea what part of NH, or even if it actually WAS in NH!
Well, we are pleased to congratulate THEPOOLEMAN on his success, a reward for his diligence and alertness! He nailed his quarry! Amazing, really.
THEPOOLEMAN was able to grab some pics with his camera phone before heading back to work, and he has graciously forwarded them to Baurspotting. Thank you to THE POOLEMAN for sharing these pics, and congratulations once again on a job well done!
I also want to take this moment to welcome the owner of the beautiful NH Baur pictured below: Mr. Rodney B.!! Welcome to our Baur community, and we look forward to hearing from you, and hearing about that Baur!
Without further ado, I am pleased to present: THE NEW HAMPSHIRE BAUR!
The NH Baur is the TC1 in the foreground. The TC2 Baur to the right is THEPOOLEMAN'S beautiful TC2 Baur.
Thanks again , Ed! And welcome to Rodney B.!

OK... Forum Boss has allowed me to post photos. 1985 323i Baur TC2 #3705. It has the new top on. Missing front lower air dam. Now lives in Lakewood, Colorado with a bunch of other cars (one other BMW- '88 325iX). Additional photos to follow when my 56K modem cools off.

Looks great!
So THAT is what lapisblau is supposed to look like!!! My E21 Baur is also lapisblau, but badly in need of refreshing.
I would be careful with those chrome wheel wells. They are a known rust promoter..... sometimes used to cover rust.... but they tend to retain moisture. You may want to check that out.... see what is going on under there.
Other than that.... welcome aboard!
I have attached a pic of another Denver Baur.... one that we have a pic of from 2008, but we are still looking for. Any help in finding it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Tom: The chrome over the wheels was in the trunk when I bought it. No rust on the car. Body or underneath. California to Colorado-- pretty dry out here. It won't see any use when they dump the mag-chloride on the roads around here during winter storms. Thats when I fire up the old "Suburban of Doom". Plus another photo-- 10 minutes to upload at 56K. Someday we may get faster service out here.
