My 1985 320i. Brought to the US in '86. I'm currently at Camp Lejeune, NC. I'm heading to Euro-Classica in Winston-Salem on September 10th.
Very nice! And thank you for your service!
I will try to get these posted on the google map of the TC2s soon.
In the meantime, thanks to alert Baurspotter BMWtyro, we learn that there is a TC2 Baur on eBay for anyone interested. Looks like it may be a project or a parts car at this point, but it may be worth a look! I am trying to contact the seller, since it is basically in my backyard here in CT somewhere.

I'm a day late and a dollar short on this one but.... did anyone see this TC2 Baur on ebay? BMWtyro gave me the heads up on it, and it was listed as being in CT. I emailed the seller, never got a response, then the auction listing changed to say that the car was Miami Fl, not CT. ??
Seller was asking $600 to open bidding. But the auction closed,..... with no bids. The fact that it was rusty and not running may have had something to do with that... but for $600.... ??? It was also listed as a 1980 323 TC.... when the pic is clearly an E30, not an E21.

Thanks to alert bimmerforums member midlifebmw we are informed that there is a nice 1984 318i Baur TC2 in Waterloo, NY (mid/upstate wine country area). He was also able to obtain some history on it, tracing the car back to its purchase in Germany! We look forward to hearing some more about this car, as well as getting some pics soon.

Yeah, Baur car getting rare for these day! because of Baur top, the car look different than other e30 in U.S
I love to drive in summer California. With the top down combine beautiful red color and Alpina wheel!
Thomas
Tom, Tyler et al,
Dawn and I just returned from a 500+ mile round trip to the Heacock Vintage Races at VIR in Danville, VA. We drove our "new" E30 Baur 320i five-speed (thumbnails), and we love it! It returned 30+ MPG and never stumbled. As soon as I get some issues of previous-owner maintenance (or lack thereof) straightened out, it will be a fantastic car.
And Tyler, I don't think your car looks at all bad with the U.S. bumpers; we are used to seeing our U.S. 325 sedan's bumpers and, to be honest, I had never before noticed that your car had them. To me, they look great either way.

Congrats to Jeff on taking his new vehicle on a 500 mile 'shakedown cruise"! I wish you many more successful Baur adventures! When driving in the midday hot sun, I highly recommend utilizing the unique option only available on the Baur TC: leave the cabrio roof open, and put the hardtop on! Drive in shaded open air comfort! It's great! No regular convertible can do that! Enjoy! Once the sun passes peak heat, off comes the hardtop!
Thanks also to Davey101 for the link to the Baur for sale in Washington State! I have now posted the ad on my "Baurs For Sale" page in my blog. We have added two new Baurs for sale ads today! They are starting to mount up so check it out!

Thanks, Tom.
Regarding the versatility of the Baur top configuration: it is also instructive to note that the forward "hard top" can be kicked-up in the rear for ventilation, much as can be the sunroof on a "regular" E30 closed car.

That sounds like a E30 TC2 feature. I don't have that on my E21 TC1. Although I have never seen a TC2 in person, from the pics at the Socal Vintage Show a week or so ago, it does appear that the rear attachment mechanism is somewhat different.
You can see what I mean in these pics from that show (scroll down the page to see the TC1 compared to the TC2 top rear mechanisms):

I'll have to dig up the pics, but there was a red one in Amherst, Mass. undergoing restoration last time I was out there.
We know of a beautiful cranberry red E21 Baur (below) in Concord Mass. If this is a different car, I am very interested in learning any info you may have on it. As you may know, we are trying to locate and identify ALL the Baurs in the US. Any help is appreciated.

For any Baur fans, or any restoration fans, I have stumbled across some pics of the restoration of an historic Baur: #000001! The very first 3 Series Baur! As an E21, it is a little off-topic here, but it is the grandfather of all the TC2 Baurs. The pics of the restoration are an inspiration to any of us who have considered a project like this. There is a lot of material, so it is probably going to be a 3 or 4 part series. I just posted Part I a little while ago. Subsequent installments will show more of the decrepit state in which it was found, the process of restoration, and finally the brilliant finished product!

Some time without internet here
The E21 has two holes on the outside, the E30 and E36 had a central lock. This can be lifted.
But...the prototype E21 had a hardtop that could be lifted. The pens where longer and had a second hole, so that it could be lifted and fastened.
Btw: there where 2 systems used on the TC2.
The old one (used till B42265):
And the newer one:
