I see that the kit is for a 540 which has the same motor as my 2001 740I. Will the motor mounts and trans mount work for me?? PM w/ prices. Thank you This a is a future project for me.

Yes the kit does work on E38 7 Series I put a LM7 in a 2001 E38 740il and it fit the same as the E39.

Sorry for the hijack... TDI If you can fabricate, you can wire. It is not difficult at all. There are many well documented swaps that make the wiring a breeze. It takes longer to get all the mechanical stuff dialed in. Don't let it scare you, do research instead!! Get the swap figured out on paper and then go for it. You will love it.

I've talked with some folks locally and they suggested looking into this conversion. Your descriptions and work looks great. I am interested in what the kit costs and any hand holding you could provide. I am looking at a built motor from Amerspeed (http://amerspeed.com/) or Nelson Racing (http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/). How is the oil pan clearance? Have you considered a dry sump? Any thoughts on the dry sump clearances? How did you deal with the exhausts? I appreciate any information you can provide. I am challenge with skills, tools, shop, etc. but I know a few shops locally that could assist given sufficient information. Thanks much.

Engine mounts will work. Trans mount will need to be modified. Trans mount is setup for a Fbody t56.
