I guess it's time to start a thread. Back in November i picked up a nice rust free '95 M3. Since then I've redone the front and rear suspensions, and the brakes. Back in March I bought most of (Rao's) Nash conversion kit. Now this past week I spotted an LS6 long block on eBay and bought it. I'm still a long way out and the list of things that I need is long and expensive. But I've gotten most of the big stuff out of the way. The plan is to have the car done within a year. Alot of this has been shown in another thread on the E36 M3 board but now this this is getting down to full blown conversion mode, it's time to transfer the build here. The plan for now is to enjoy the car with the S50 for the summer as I continue to source parts. After that, what I call phase one will begin. That will consist of getting the motor, trans, exhaust, brake booster, pedal assembly, front subframe & steering rack removed. Then after a good cleaning, the Hydraboost system, pedal assembly, new reinforced subframe and Z3 steering rack go in. I'd like to have all that done by October. Here are pics of what I have so far.

The swap parts look pretty sketchy but otherwise it looks like you are off to a good start.

The mounts have been blasted and re-powder coated. They look nice now. The Hydraboost will be cleaned up to some degree before it goes in too.
BTW Rao, would you happen to know if the CTSv oil pan will work with my swap. Or do I pitch it and go F-Body?
Also, I know you told me this back in March, but what motor mounts do I use with this kit, F-Body or E36?

e36 motor mounts.
The CTS-V might fit, but I am not 100% sure. The F-body pan will definitely work.

I thought the cts-v pan was like the gto in that it was front sump and usually doesn't fit?
are those motorsports seatbelts?
The CTSV pan is a rear sump similar to the F-body. As far as I know only the GTO and the Aussie counterparts had a front sump oil pan

For what it's worth. It appears the CTSv pan will work just fine.

Nice car and good job on your progress so far.
Also great start on gathering swap parts.
I've got a few questions though if you don't mind.
Are those e30m3 front control arms?
What steered you into the hydraboost set-up?
With the direction the car and suspension seems to be going why offset strut mounts and not camber plates?
Lastly, why the desire for a z3 rack? Its the same ratio as your 95m3 but it just has less overall travel.
Thanks, keep up the good work and keep us posted with pics!
- Yes
- The Hydraboost works with the Nash kit. It allows you to mount the motor centered.
- I went with 96+ strut mounts because they were available, locally for a good price. The car has 96+ spindles too.
- Maybe I quoted the wrong rack. Bottom line the steering in this car is vague. My 98 has much better steering response. The rack will get swapped for a faster one.

Alot of this has been shown in another thread on the E36 M3 board Suspension is done. Brakes are done. I might swap them out for something better at some point though.

Last week the engine, trans and exhaust came out. This week I need to get the car home and get the engine harness removed without screwing it up. All appears to be sold. Will find it's new home in a 318ti.

what kind of clearance does the cts-v oil pan have? could you post more pictures, i was thinking of using this oil pan on my ls2
This is the best pic that I have. Can't take anymore, subframe is now installed in the car.
More disassembly and a heavy cleaning. Next is brake and fuel lines. I'm going ABS delete, why not? I need to get the mismatched paint sorted out too.

This is odd. The closer pedal assembly is the one that came out of the car. The further one is the one going in. The hydraulic hook ups on the masters are completely different. One is threaded (the metal one) the other is a slip fit with a retaining clip. Now I'm sitting here wondering if when I order the Vorschlag throwout bearing do they offer both types of hook ups. I'm not ready to order it so I don't want to bother them with a call.

A standard metric brake fitting can be used on the master cylinder or you can use the BMW clutch line for an early M3 which has a standard fitting on t he slave end that can be connected to a standard -3an hose and then to the slave cylinder. I would use a stock replacement f-body slave cylinder; in fact I did and I do

Where did you order the metal master cylinder? What is the part number?
All the ones I've replaced have had that clip.
