curious about your maintenance records and what you've done and how much you've spent over the years on it.

I've always wanted to see the cost comparison between keeping a car that long and maintaining it well vs just buying different cars whenever the mileage gets high...
regular mainance. biggest issue was the rear subframe ripping out. alot of hours and having a friend come over to repair and install the reinforcement plates in it.

still the oem clutch too from the factory. when it hits 400k gonna boost it till it blows

theory i have been using is if i buy a new car with less miles im gonna pay ~400 dollars a month for it. If i took that same 400 dollars a month and applied it to the car for a few months everything will be fixed. Since coming out of school i negelected somethings and now am slowly repairing things 1 at a time with that method. of course in the end i will have a older car with alot of miles but it will last another 100k miles

    How to turbo your car:
Step one. Install ecu and learn to tune and or have it tuned.
Step two. Install injectors and retune.
Step three. Install turbo parts and bits. get it running with out leaks. DO NOT DRIVE IT. Idling should be ok
    Step four. Retune car
    Step five enjoy

Pretty neat idea. how did you figure out your maintenance schedule post 200k miles? Did you just stick to "every XXXXX miles change this." ? or did you maintain as things started to wear?

basically as things wear out. your at the limit of everthing. so when things start making noises replace them.

so my goal for the next 3-4 months is put in around 200 bucks a month. roughly half the cost of a new car carpayment. with 6-800 bucks my brakes should be in tip top shape and my rear bushings should be completed. two things i have neglected. (besides my recently replaced wheel bearing going again ).

even if i blow up this engine which i dont know how i have tried basically everything. its 500 bucks for a new one to drop in and go 1.25 months of a car payment. Seems logical for me.

My 87 535is just clicked over 130k on the original working odometer

I parted my 96 328is at 156k after 60k miles of abuse and general neglect from being broke in college.
