Anyone know the specs on this car?

I would think that for $80,000 the seller would say a little more about the car.
it's italian, out-dated, not very fast, etc.............but it kicks ass. the beginning of M
Thats a rad car.
it started an legacy. BMW had to get the design out before they were ready, so they went to Lambo for it, and had to put it together quicker than they would have wanted, still, for a car built from 79-81 it came with LOTS of uncommon goodies. Coilover suspension, lsd, and an engine with power that sounds good even by today’s standards: 277hp i6. Only 457 were built. They failed miserably when they were first introduced, but are a modern classic today.

0-60: 5.4 seconds
top speed: 162
and this was in the late 70's too.

i didn't say it wasn't fast "even in its time". it was hella fast for back then. i just said it wasn't that fast. period.Originally posted by Armo95
The car was built 30+ years ago...it's not going to be an F50. It's DAMN fast for what it is; I'd LOVE to have an M1 in my dream garage.
Could be a good price.
The good thing is there are so few of these cars that you can trace the history on all of these cars, including recent sale price, etc.
In one of those photos the front right fender looks darker in color than the rt door, could be a paint problem.
I just figured that the seller would know a bit more about the car and put it in the description to help answer many of the questions that people will not doubt write to him/her.
If you've got the bones to buy a 23-4 year old 80K car - you don't need to ask questions..
You just know-
at least - that's my opinion anyway-
M6 - fixing it I don't
- Gun Control is being able to hit your target -
If you're interested, Covered Bridge Motorwerks has a red M1 for sale with only 10,000 km. I think they're asking $75K

its hella faster than my 04 car...0-60= 8.8s
Elliott, I think there's one sitting in the showroom at the BMW Store in Cincy, right off of I-71 if you're down that way. It was there last time I was there and appeared to be a permanent fixture along with a couple other classic BMWs.

you're right. The M Motorsport division of BMW was brought in house in 1972, and they worked on the 3.0 CSL semi-independently from BMW. so yes, the 3.0 csl is the first "M" car, and in accordance with racing rules 400 were released to the public.Originally posted by 325is_MadBimmer

FWIW - the only other cars ever produced with that engine (the S38, maybe called M88 in the M1, I can't remember, too many damn engine codes)
Were the :
E24 M6
E28 M5
E34 M5
Those don't cost 75K a piece, but for 75K you could get a nice example of all three..
M6 - fixing it I don't
