it's about time for a bit more serious question...
Does anyone know of a local store/shop/etc that sells H7 HID bulbs? Thought the ballast on my wagon crapped the bed, so ordered a DDM kit with 3000k bulbs and thought "no big deal, can just swap the bulbs back if the 3000k get me in trouble". Well, turns out the damn bulb had burnt out and the ballasts were fine. Sooo...would much rather pay a little extra to find something local than pay $15 for bulbs, $15 in shipping (a joke), and wait a week to 10 days for bulbs. Really like the 3000k bulbs too, just worried they'll get me a ticket. Anyone know the legalities on bulbs/colors? Neighbor was pulled over and fined for 12000k bulbs.
3000k bulbs is like yellow, right? 12000k is like uber purple. I don't know the "law", per se, but the closer to 4300k (Pure white light/OEM specification) you are the less likely the pull over.
Quick question, Dave #2397273 you running 35w or 50w ballast? How does the brightness compare to an OEM car? I sat my car next to an OEM Audi and noticed that it wasn't as bright. New battery so I'm wondering if the bulbs are going or if I need a new ballast.
So who's in for Tuesday? Let's get it straight.
1. Negley
<_< Fawk...is that waterfront thing Tuesday? I may not be able to make that. Tech N9ne concert and work.
Meet at the smoke stacks prior and drive over?
Assuming you're asking me. Ha. I've run only 35w ballasts...only due to some people saying they have issues with the 55w kits on stock wiring. As for comparisons, I can't compare my output too well with other cars only due to the fact that the light itself is less than 2ft off the ground.
If I make it out to a meet, we can see if there is a difference...or if it's just an illusion due to ride height (which is my issue).
Good, those fucking things are annoying.
I cant stand when im driving and some kid has his 12000K bulbs pointed right at my eyes. If you are getting those kind of bulbs and you dont have projectors. Aim those damn things at the ground!
As far as your question of what kelvin temp to get, I would stick with 8000k its nice but most cops dont care at that temp. 10000k is pushing it.
Youll know when ballasts are going bad. You will hear a buzzing rather than a high pitched noise you normally hear. Plus, youll know when ballasts go bad when you actually see your lights flicker.
THe higher the pitch ring or noise you hear, the "Healthier" the ballast.
.... In my opinion and experience anyways. lol.

what time at the stacks?
Ok guys im confused. I went to have someone at A and L read the millage off my key because I can barely see it on the dash (pixels are all messed up where millage is supposed to be) THe print out says 217, 195 but it looks like I have 217, 186 on the car? What could this mean??? I didnt drive the M5 there. I just drove there in another vehicle and had them read it today. I havnt driven the car since thursday.
My air dam is off to fix the cracks and repaint (as usual). I'm trying to get that on by Thurs, detail my car Fri. for the PVGP, so this week is going to be tough.

I can be at the stacks whenever, as long as I know ahead of time.
wasnt there a member here who just bought a AUDI B5 S4?? im thinking of buying one for a winter beater..was wondering if there reliable? im hearing to upgrade the stock ko3 turbos to ko4...just wondering.........
So, what do I have to register for in order to hang out with people at PVGP and have my cars with theirs? Can I just pay there or does it have to be in advance?
I will be attending the show, but I was actually going to plan on getting there a little early so meeting at the stacks probably won't work for me. PM me though if you want to meet up earlier and roll in.
That would be me. I haven't had any issue's with mine other then the throttle body sticking from time to time which reduces the boost (minor issue). For the winter they are awesome, but they aren't quiet as nimble as a BMW. Although as a daily driver in some ways I find it nicer then comparable BMW's. The low end boost makes keeping up with traffic but still only shifting at 2500 rpms a breeze. Mine is unofficially up for sale if you'd be interested, just PM me.
It's easier to do it online, but you can just pay when you get there, or at least you have been able to for the last 20+ years.

So, am I reading google right? This park is pretty much in downtown?
It's in Oakland, if you consider that downtown.
just pull in, they will point you to a spot to park in, then get out and go pay. its a breeze.
im going to try to be at walnut tomorrow, the stacks on tuesday for sure, and prob the show on sunday.
