ok heres the deal
when i bought the m3 the speedometer was broken
it woudlnt say how fats it was going
i got a new one as soon as i bought it
when the speedometer breaks, does it also halt the odometer of the car(mileage)
if it does, then i might have a rollback
the guy couldve just disconnected it and left it like that for a while
do u think its a rollback?
or is the odometer not conected to the speedometer
the rpm and gas tank thing worked fine
thanks
what i really want to kno is...
if the speedometer stops moving, does the odometer still keep going or does that halt too?
yes, as long as the speedometer isnt registering a speed, the odometer isnt recording the miles. He might have unplugged it, or it might have come loose on its own sa the connections tend to get dusty or loose on their own.

I've put 15k on my car in 6 months before.
noo i made a mistake in june 02 it has 45 k
now it has 55 k
05/23/97 6
08/13/99 40,005
06/11/02 45,764
now = 55k
1.5 years and 10k miles...i think i got screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
my 95 has 78K - thats 9,750 miles per year.
settle down, spaz
look, the car had 5000 miles put on it between 99 an 02. so he only drove 1700 miles / year?
It sound a little fishy to me.
Who would buy a car with no working speedo?
It sounds like you just wanted to find out if you could stop your miles from accumulating. I would not do that because the dealer will pick up on it and possible flag the car

in 2 years the car wen 5k miles
then the next 2 years it went 10k miles
i got jipped...im so pissed this ruins everything
now i dont even feel lik modding...who knows it might have 100k
stop crying. dude.
why didnt you check the carfax before you bought it? many of us on here get em for free.
how is the quality of the interior? hows the paint? how many dents?
trust me you can tell the difference between a 50k car and a 100k.
if you bought that looked like it had 100k miles on it but said it had 55k then you got what you deserve learn from it and dont do it again.
did you have it checked by a bmw mechanic before you bought it? because there are ways to check the mileage on the cars ecu.
the best thing for you to do is check the mileage on the ecu. you do this by doing a gauge cluster test (do a search for it if you dont know what im talking about) and what the cluster test does is compare the mileage of the clusters display to the # of miles on the ecu. if the #'s are different it sets a mileage minipulation light, then you hold the cluster button down for two seconds and the two different mileage #'s from the cluster and ecu with sychronize to the higher number.
if you do this dont get a cluster with over 45-50k miles cuz if its higher than the number of miles registered on the ecu that you will have added undriven miles to your car. THIS PROCESS CANT BE REVERSED! so dont do something stupid like put in the wrong cluster or something.
good luck man.
here you go dude i got the link for ya since you sound so pissed.
do this. http://ebaines.home.att.net/e36_instruments.htm
now stop whining go out and hand some little ricer his ass in your new m!
my '98 is almost at 40K miles, some people just drive the car in the summer on the weekends. sorry to be rude, but I don't see how you could buy a car without getting it inspected, with no working speedometer, and not expect this kind of problem.
my 97 M3 has 25,000 miles.....
he kinna sounds like a ricer...
k...i hope i dindt get scammed...but 5k miles in 2 yrs then 10k miles in 1.5 yrs is kinda crazy...my mechanic said the car is all good mechanically and its driving real nice

thanks alot serious...im gona do that test as soon as my car gtes back from the mechanic (hes doin some checks for me).
the condition of the car is immaculate...not a scratch..shiny metallic blue i am positive its been in no accidents, carfax certified...leather has some crack...engine seems perfect
but the miles thing just throws me off a bit...thats 15k miles in 2 and a half yrs...wow
if the car runs great, has a perfect interior, looks good from the outside, who really cares how many miles it has.
honestly people overexaggerate the number of miles on "newer" cars. if a car has 120k on it but has been religiously taken care of with highway miles, always garaged, kept up with routine maintence, and not beaten or tracked. i would rather have that car over one with 50k that some one has beat the shit out of and never done any maintence.
with routine maintence these cars with run well over 150k.
the car sounds really nice. dont let some little ? get you frustrated or pissed about the deal. hey its still an M!
Wow...you're crazy.
