Did you try to take the plugs out, crank it see if it dries out and then try again?

Have a technical question, don't send me a PM but post it on the board so others can benefit from it!

Yes, there was no gas in plugs, i took them out 10 hours after this happen, so possible the gas dried out by then. I am looking at 2 motors this week 1 with 99k another with 115k. I am swapping my waterpump, starter and intake manifold on the motor. Also doing rear coolant gasket, rear crankshaft seal, valve cover and timin cover gaskets, oil pan gasket;motor mounts; else should i change while the motor is out?

Got a new set of boch4 injectors from my mechanics ls1 camaro(too scared to put other set on) he offered to sell me ls1 motor for 1200$ with 60k miles...but unfortunately i need this car back on the road in 1 month max. Plus my budget is 2,5k max. and I dont know anyone who is capable of doin this swap

I certainly feel sorry for you! If I were in your shoes I'd just replace the engine. If you're a little unsure, just go and take a Corolla for a test drive for a few minutes (you'll realise the right choice within a few second of doing that).

I cannot believe how cheap replacement engines are in the USA! I've been casually looking for a 4.4 M62TU to replace my 3.4 M62 for months and haven't found a thing under $3000-4000 here in Australia.

    You have my sympathy none-the-less!

Just in case you start getting desperate, don't touch the LS1. They're nasty and BMWs are allergic to them. Besides, if you really wanted that sort of hassle you should just yourself a favour and put an S62 in instead.

It was definitely a hydro lock problem. I've seen it many times with flood cars. The rod bends just a little and there is no room for the bent rod and it punches a hole in the block. The hole is usually right near the starter just like yours. The other option is something fell into the cylinder and jammed the piston bending the rod. Pull the head off of the old engine and see if there is something in there or signs of that. Always good to know the culprit before petting the new engine in.

Thanks, I am very happy with the motor so far, its late 97 build date, but it says 98 on carfax, 2 owners, valve cover gasket appear to be done already, and looks so much better than mine. I am not gonna put vanos injectors on it, dont really wanna risk anything plus the injectors look brand new on the motor. The motor even came with complete wiring harness relays and engine cover!

Update: finally got her back last night with new motor and lots of maintenance done.Man its amazing to be driving again....
FYI the new motor(from 98) was completly different: the harnes was different, the fuel rail was different(no fuel pressure regulator) AC Mount and half of the sensors. It was not a fun job for my mechanic who had to take the harness off 3 times...
I just need to get rid of exhaust leak where the headers connect to exhaust and she is back to perfect .
