ASC Light on; ABS light isn't on..

Today as I was driving home from work, my ASC light came on and the traction control no longer works.

I've done a search, and 90% of the threads had ASC and ABS lights on. The ABS light in my car is not on.

From what I've read, a common problem is the wheel sensor, but that would also trigger an ABS light correct?

I think it may be the throttle cable or ASC connector, but I'm not sure.

Anything else I should give a quick glance over before taking it to a dealer for the code to be read?

Check the ASC connector. That happened to my car once, and checked under the hood and flipped the metal clip up and down and it was fine after that.

A bad wheel speed sensor does indeed trigger both the ACS & the ABS light. If your ABS light is not on, then don't waste your time with the WSS. It's definitely ASC related. I would do as adamnur instructed to start...check the cable and connection.

Sadly, the light is still on.

Removed and verified there was no corrosion on the 2 ASC connections.

The throttle cable looks fine, but I'm unsure of what to look for. Is the throttle cable suppose to move when the gas pedal is depressed? Mine doesn't move when pressing the gas pedal.

An independent BMW Shop quoted me $55 to read the code. I want to check everything I can before spending money to read a code lol.

BTW, where does the scanner hook up to?

Where in WA are you? If you're anywhere close to Portland feel free to swing by and I'll read your codes for you.

There's two locations for the scanner. The BMW diagnostic port under the hood and the OBD2 port under the steering wheel.

On the way to work, the Check Engine Light is on now.

I'm thinking the two are probably related, any suggestions?

The only difference I can feel in the car, is when I completely lift my foot of the throttle while I'm driving, it feels like it jerks a bit.

    Any ideas?

You pretty much need to scan the codes.

I'm going to scan the OBD in the morning tommorow and figure out what the issue is, but it'll take a couple days for me to get to the independent BMW shop to get the asc read. I'm a bit far from Oregon, or else I'd stop by and get the code read. Thanks for the offer tho

    OBD Code P0121

    Throttle Position Sensor.

I understand there are 2 TPS, one for the ASC and the main one. I'm guessing the ASC TPS is the problem since the ASC light is on as well.

Does anyone know what the OHM range to check for on both throttle bodies?

i m inclined to say your problem is ASC/ABS system related even tho your ABS light isn t on

only way to know what your problem is to get someone with a GT-1 (BMW diagnosis tool) to scan it.....a shop, a friend, the dealer

I have a feeling your TPS code is unrelated...a TPS code won t light your ASC or ABS light

PS: a TPS code P0121 will be the engine throttle body TPS....

My ABS light is not on, and the ABS works perfect (tested that today).

Just found out a friend has a GT1, so I'm gonna borrow it.

TPS codes won't interfere with ASC? Hmm...

Bumpin to see if you found a solution. I am having the exact same problem, ASC stopped working and CEL code p0121.

Also my car is running rough under acceleration/deceleration.
