As far as I know the MAF connector is part of the engine wiring harness and not available separately. You probably don't want to buy a new engine wiring harness as it's quite expensive. Maybe you can get one from the breakers.

12521737668 It can be a PITA getting the wires in and out of the new harness end.

easy to remove the wires/terminals from those....
grab a replacement telescoping radio antenna from Radio Shack

carefully break off the bottom, unscrew the knob and then slide the sections out through the bottom... look for the one size that will fit into the hole on the business end of the connector (yes, there is one that is a perfect fit). Leave the ones inside that and extend them out... slide the antenna barrel over the terminal and inside the plastic until it bottoms out and press the next smallest secion down... viola! the terminal comes out pristine.

...just make sure you make note of which one goes in which hole on the new plastic bit... which are available new

Granted, but it's a 7-pole AMP connector with a succession number that works in the system. How about someone spring for the $10 and figure it out.

Hey, would anyone happen to know the PN for the mating connector to 12521737668? I have seen it used on some weird OEM MAF "extension cord" things before, but other that that the male half is always molded onto a sensor body. Thanks.

Oh, and a PN for the rubber boot thing would also be super handy!

well finally placed my order and I'm happy to report to the other 8 owners who have had this connector broken that the PN that Bill posted (12521737668) is correct ! Thanx man!!!! Here are the pix:

To the left is an original (undamaged) MAF connector. The first pic shows the connector with the rubber sheath pulled back so the actual plastic piece is shown in its entirety like the replacement.

Now, to figure out how to take the old one appart!

These are AMP/Amphenol 2.5mm system connectors, fiddled just enough to make them BMW-proprietary. The AMP 2.5mm pin tool works, but sometimes there is a release built into the body of the housing. You just twist that central collar to unlock the pins.

Your trick with the radio antenna is a stroke of genius, but I couldn't get a tube size that worked despite pulling 2 of them apart. Just luck of the draw at Radio Shack, I guess.

wierd, I've done this a few times... you buy a replacement radio antenna... it isn't very big to start with. It does work amazingly well.

Radio Shack part # 270-1405. 28" telescoping antenna

Break off the bottom, will break clean on seam after plug
extend antenna and push the next smaller tube through, remove the copper shims...
slide outside tube off now and discard, we don't need this one.

You now have the tool you need, the tube still on the antenna will fit the connectors perfectly. (2nd tube in on original antenna). You keep the tubes inside of that one intact because you can use the next smaller one to push the terminal out of the connector after you have seated the outside tube all the way in to release the locks..

I just went and bought another one and checked it to be sure, this is the one.

post updated with part numbers and proven instructions.

Well, neither of my MAF connectors have the release button so I'm going to need this tool. Here's the link to the antenna on Radio Shack if anyone is interested. Thanks for the PN cartoonz.

I just purchased this, I'm going to try fiddling with the connector next week and I'll give feedback.

I think it was $5 and, to my surprice, was in stock.

So I managed to change the connector for my MAF. I ended up crossing some wires so my car was running like crap...but that's another story.

Here's a little pictorial to complement Cartoonz's directions on what you have to do to the antenna to make it work as a pin removal tool.

1 - break off the bottom, i just used a pair of hand pliers...it will cut right off.

2- slide the largest diameter tube (fatest) down towards the tip of the antenna...it will reveal some copper shims on the next tube like this:

    shims removed:

Removing the shims will allow you to slide the largest tube out of the antenna body.

You end up with two pieces like this.

The remaining tubes in the antenna are what you use to insert into the connector. It's actually a genious idea because the tip of the antenna becomes a release button. Push on the tip and it, in terms, pushes the wire out. You just have to make sure the tube is seated all the way to the bottom of the wire slot and then push on the "button"/antenna tip and voila!

Good info here. I need to do this on my M-Sport as the MAF plug got chewed up by the serpentine assembly. Now I just need to figure out the right connector for an M60 MAF and I'm set.

first of all I would remove all the old brittle plastic around the wire loom near the MAF connector. That outer sheath is stone hard and when it breaks in the bend close to the MAF, it cuts into the wires inside the wire loom like a knife and then you have a lot of trouble finding a fault.
We had in our wrenching group at least 10 cars, E31, E32, E34, all had the same problem, check the wires carefully, and make a new flexible outer protection sheath.

The ones which were cut we replaced with the pins with cables you can get from BMW, that is about 20 cm cable already on the pins.
called round receptacle, mostly 2.5 mm, but buy them all, then you have enough for the future

did you ever get the correct connectorp/n for the M60? Just for the records that we have all correct part numbers for this in this thread.

    Thanks
