Shift knob keeps coming off on hard shifts, any fix?

I have this rare OEM burlwood lighted shift knob that I love. The only problem is that the damn thing keeps coming off on hard 1 - 2 shifts. I have the UUC shifter. Anyone have a similar experience and found a fix without using some super glue to permanently mount ?

I wrapped the shifter lever in electrical tape and then put the knob on. So far so good after about 10,000 miles. It is a bear to get off though.

You can wrap some electrical tape around the tip of the shifter before putting back the shift knob: ?

either tape, or ease up on that 1-2 shift...
