Someone picked up my car with a forklift, do you think it did damage?

Some dumb shit at the warehouse decided to pick up my car with a fork lift and move it around. Besides scratching up the side skirts, what kind of damage do you think he did?

I am going to take it in to get looked at. I have only driven it three times since I got it. This really pisses me off. Why are some people such assholes!

Picked it up from the side with the forks between the wheels.

Please comment before I completely lose it and quit my job.

as long as it was picked up evenly i dont see how it would be any different than an actual lift

Holy crap! What an assclown! Why the hell would he do that!?

There is a chance that the forks caught the proper subframe structures that wouldn't induce damage, but if they were resting on something odd, there is a good chance that something was bent that shouldn't have been bent.

    God that sucks.

    :

I don't know for sure, but lifting the car by anything other than the jackpoints, then friggin DUH, I would assume some damage was done. Yes, have it looked at, and have the idiot pay for every last cent.

I think I'd go looney on the guy.

Holy Shit!! What kind of people do you work with!!!

If it were me, I probably would have already done something that would have got me fired.

Would the company insurance pay for the damage? The guy should be axed!!

If the employee was on company premises during his usual hours of work then I would imagine the company is liable for the damage. I would get an estimate and meet with the owner. Obviously a loaner should be provided. If that doesn't get results contact an attorney. And yeah, I agree with the previous poster. More than likley your AA turbo was damaged beyond repair.

When I told the boss he got all red in the face like a cartoon. The guy didnt realize it was a $50,000 car that he was fucking with because it was so small. Apparently didnt know it was mine either. Boss said if there is any damage to the car, this guy is fired. Goes to the dealership tomorrow.

Boss just got a new H1. So he leaves his 66 GTO in the warehouse next to my car. Said if anyone touches his car, they will die.

So some light at the end of the tunnel....

White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.

I agree with couper. If it was done by an employee using the company forklift, the company is responsible. If the boss is a butthead, he could try to fire you. But then his troubles just begin. Imagine the wrongful termination case going to court, and all the details come out. Imagine the faces on the jury when they hear about this, especially if there's even one car enthusiast on that jury. Then imagine the only possible verdict. Meanwhile, I figure you get to take the car to the dealer/body shop ON COMPANY TIME, and get a loaner, on the company's dime. Then the company pays to fix everything that was damaged. And if Forklift T. Asshole even gives you a dirty look, claim on the job harassment and get his butt tossed out of there.

Ya don't mess with my car, my woman, or my cat.

The frame rails run along either side of the car, so it's pretty safe to pick it up anywhere along there. The jack points are the preferred points along the rails, but you should be ok if the fork lift was arranged so that all of the load of the car intersected the forks anywhere along those rails.

My big concern would be what else under the car got hit - I believe there are a few things in the center of the car that fall below the lowest point on the frame rails.

IMHO, if any guy working for me sees fit to dick around with a fork lift and a 3000 pound car he's done. Any damage caused should be paid for by the company. If it's my company I'm holding back wages and/or suing the assclown that did it to recover the losses.

I shit you not, I have recited the above phrase on more than one occasion!

Bravo to the poster for maintaining your composure at work while this was going on. I think I would have gone off Mr. Forker and got myself fired!

Yeah, company with the employee is liable for the damage... that may seem like a given in a perfect world, but go check the story in the general forum about how Savage BMW destroyed someone's M3 and refused to settle appropriately without lawyers... :

Y'know, I bet if you took a forklift, and picked up his car, dropped it on him, and then drove over the car... there wouldn't be enough left of him for the DA to put together a case.

    Yes
Some people have no respect for other people's property.

If someone did that to my car, I'd be in jail right now.

Have the guy fired, have his ass beat by some thugs, then sue the company anyway.

If all fails, at least kill the guy, it's the only good thing to do.
