Comprehensive manual swap guide out there somewhere...?

There's dozens of mentions of manual swaps scattered all over the search function and google search, but i can't find any comprehensive step-by-step of the process.
what i'm concerned about is if i need a specific driveshaft and diff replacement, and the exact wiring and exact coding needed

Also, would there be significant differences between, say, a 98 2.8i and an 02 3.0i? Or would it just be a different shape bellhousing and not much else?
Looking for an e39 Touring black carpet set, including the rear cargo cubbies and side sections!
ALSO looking for 540i 6speed manual transmission sets (2001+ pedals with switches, driveshaft, gearbox), for the 6speed swap! Probably not for a while....

The 2.8 and 3.0 transmissions are the same. The rest of it depends on which car you are dealing with.

Ok, lets back up to the basics.

What exact model is the car you want to convert, and what is the intended donor?

The basic instructions for it all will come from the E36 manual swaps.

A user here converted his Z3 3.0i coupe to manual using a complete kit I sold him. I was intending to use it for a project, but I gave up temporarily.

My kit was from a 1997 328i with ZF manual transmission. I had the flywheel and complete clutch kit from it. All you really need is the front half-shaft of the driveshaft from the donor car. Ideally you should balance it with the rear half-shaft. Pedals and hydraulics were from E36.

You need Z3 specific shifter linkage parts for the shifter. I intended to use a Z3M shift lever with it all.

Ok that confirms my suspicion of most of the parts just being e36 parts, that makes things quite east and inexpensive.

my target vehicle is (probably) a year 2002 3.0i coupe, it's a pristine example for not much money and not many miles and good service history nearby but it's autotragic.

although since it's the m54b30, wouldn't it use e46 bits for the swap...?
