My 2000 bmw 704iL shakes when the brakes are applied. upon inspection of the brakes, the pads(front brakes) are still in very good condition(they were just replaced about 3000 miles ago) but the rotors are worn. Mechanic said the rotors are worn because of the salt from the recent snow. Granted I have not used the car for about two months following the snow. Can anyone let me know how to proceed with this situation; should I change the rotors or is there something else I can do. The pads are still very thick but the vehicle shakes very bad when I apply the brakes. Rear brake pads and rotors are ok.
Any information would be very appreciated.
could be your thrust arms too
What is the thickness of the rotors? are they below minimum?
Have a technical question, don't send me a PM but post it on the board so others can benefit from it!
My car is doing the same thing, but I think it's because of a faulty caliper getting stuck, which is irritating because my e39 is doing the same thing. The e38 shakes when braking but there is also a clunk, clunk, clunk going on too - would that be a bad Thrust Arm causing the clunking?

i have same problem.... Intermittent shaking while braking... Steering vi ration at 40-50 which is also intermittent... Started when i put the replica m-pars on... Was fine with my 16s... My rear rotors look to be worn but pads are fine... Front pads and rotors look good as well... Im not sure about my thrust arms but its hard to tell if the extra weight from the 18s could be putting more stress on front end...
Bavarian got slots and cross-drilling rotors for 206$ do a search on P/n 34 11 1 159895U to find them

This happened to me some months back. Rotors were warped. Had them turned (shaved) and it fixed the problem. As Edwin stated, depends on the thickness if you can have them turned or not.
