1995 840 Engine Mounts Fun Fun Fun

Decided to tackle the shot engine mounts today. Not going to plan currently..
Top nuts will not undo-at all..

Managed to release the bottom ones on each and lift engine with a jack and 4x2. Just about got the mounts out, however the top nuts and studs are firmly stuck (mounts fell apart).

I'm having a cup of tea before I cut them off from underneath, unless anyone has a 'ninja' method of releasing the nuts? They're beginning to round off, so I think I'm stuffed It's really tight in there.

As pointed out in the link above, I also used a 24" extension with a universal. Also on an 840. It is tough due to the large angle. Suggest you use a new 6 point socket. The stud from the mount does come up a ways through the nut, so make sure the socket is fully seated on the nut.

    Good luck Mick.

Thanks guys, I had already read the topic and also got the 24 inch extension. I'll take another look in the morning, then.... The transmission mounts, which look a lot easier

TIMM, i have a 95 840Ci. Do you have a DIY on replacing the valve cover gaskets for the M60? I found a link to replace gaskets on M62 E38 http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/124059. Is it safe to say the process would be the same?

Yes. Same procedure. Your 4 radiator end valve cover bolts may be different looking/style though.
