You were right. I tried the auto mode in WINKFP and it showed the same software version!
so 7545670 (tested) - SAP delete and ????? >>> + different tune?
and 7545671 (untested) - SAP delete + post 02 sensors and cat delete! ??? >>>> + different tune?
and all it takes is some computer knowledge, common sense, a 30 dollar ediabas interface cable, DIS/GT1, and the willingness to learn!
Thanks TerraPhantom for providing the last piece of the puzzle!!!
Next up,
Removing the SAP bracket and plugging the vacuum hoses at the back of the intake!

any idea what the numbers in parenthesis mean?
EU4 exhaust emissions standard (S167A) = Yes
EU3 exhaust emissions standard (S169A) = Yes
7571613 was the newest US spec on the V40 Daten files.

That's guys, this is exactly what I've been looking into doing and wasn't sure if it was possible. When I get home on leave, I'll be doing the same.
The numbers in parenthesis just represent the option code that signifies that emissions standard. Since the dme doesn't actually read the VO or ZCS, I don't think it really matters. As for why different standard have the same DME, I don't know. Perhaps the DME is adaptable enough to work with the different cats (probably is since you don't seem to have any issues with the us cats)
Also, your speed limiter probably increased. I'm pretty sure Euro 330s had a 250km/h limit rather than the 230ish us cars got
Edit: might not be much point to doing this on the M3. Apparently all s54s got the secondary air pump - even the CSL.

Grats dude! What battery charger were you using?
I'm still hesitant to flash my DME. I have a DieHard 71221, just don't know if its suitable. 10amp manual should be enough.....

NERDS!!
I love it! So how can I get the necessary software...w/o having to directly pay for it? (i.e. I pay someone else instead of The Man...)

It's all there in the diagnostic software subsection. It's just there's a lot of information to process. While I wouldn't call it difficult, it did take me a few months before I had everything working perfectly (I got into the scene when it wasn't documented nearly as well as it is now though)
WinKFPs voltage monitoring doesn't work right... at least it didn't for me. Progman's voltage reading isn't accurate either. I just use a multimeter. You could probably use the readout from the hidden menu in the cluster too.

Find an Indy mechanic with the software. Probably charges less than the dealer. Some dealers are actually hesitant to do it as well; even if you ask explicitly.
Or drive down to PA and ask Terra nicely.
Thank you. That's really good information to know
M52TUB28 only has three programs, 12 14 7 526 757 is the latest version. Doesn't tell me any more, like the M54 software Can I check on the DME for this number or do I need to read it in WinKFP to find the number?
Edit: Terra's only an hour away from my Pop-pop...but Pop-pop is 4.5 hours from Morgantown...I'll be up there at some point this summer. Gotta see about a blown Austin-Healy Bug-eyed sprite...
Edit: And by one hour, I meant 3.5...

One of the numbers on your DME will indicate the software it shipped with. Assuming your DME was never updated since buying the car, that would correspond to what you've got. If it was updated at some point, you'd need to hook up to WinKFP or DIS or Progman to figure out what you've got.
These are all the US-spec 328 DME flashes in order of release (higher number doesn't always indicate newer):
1430389
1438296
1430541
1430674
1430828
1430753
1430848
7501795
7503429
7505515
7526757

PS- I really hate you guys right now. I was going to do the update this weekend, but talked myself out of it and figured I'd have the dealer do it (better safe than sorry).
This is what I got from the sticker on my DME:
KG17132
20000/52900 05.07.99
GM 66530000 7
SA 00000A0807ACD400 4
VN 00004033FB B

Hmm, you sure that was off your DME? Those numbers are useful, but aren't really related to the DME at all (GM, SA, and VN are what make up the ZCS)
I was expecting something like this

Nope, I only have a little blue sticker on mine with the info posted above. Seems that I'll have to wait to check out my current programming

Yeah...I'm failing at downloading the software so hard right now.
Would probably be in my best interest to have you do it, New.

Update: I've put 100 miles on it. No more secondary air pump monitoring! The idle down transition are extremely smooth and there is an insane amount of torque when taking of in first gear.
I'm tempted to test out the catless software version... If only I had headers!!
