Haha, oh well
Took the car apart today. What a pain in the ass. Got everything disconnected and the whole front end removed.
Only thing left is yank out the motor, but the wife was getting angry so it has to wait until tomorrow.
Speaking of yanking the motor, where is a good spot to attach the hoist in the back of the engine?
when i pulled mine i removed one of the larger bell housing bolts and with a couple washers pinched a hook between the washers and housing
If you have latches, there's a hole at the back of the block that you can loop it through.
I only have a shitty pep boys leveler.
I always used rear section of exhaust manifolds

Thanks for the tip, I ended up using exhaust manifold and jack to keep it balanced.
Ready to come out!
Finally!
All empty.
Had to fit all this crap back in the garage. No space lol!
Btw, anyone ship a S52 + transmission? I need to put it on a pallet for pickup, but it won't fit attached and has tendency to fall over lol.
Also where do you buy reverse torx bits?

sears sells a lisle complete set for not much cash and they'll warranty them in store (or at least they've told me they would.)
Shipped my old motor out today, now I have some space in the garage
I ended up getting an ACT clutch. Rated for 725lbs/tq. Ordered Ford 30lb injectors.
Corvette FPR arrived today. Terminator Heads are at West Coast cylinder heads getting cleaned and inspected.
Vorshlag mounts should be here by the end of the week.
Ordered a new oil pressure switch and coolant temp sensor, since I sent my originals with the motor.
Going to start doing the brake lines and fuel lines while waiting for parts.
moving pretty fast!!!! keep it up
I am trying to order all my brake related stuff to relocate the abs module.
Can someone tell me all the fittings they used?
Line is 3/16
I know it's all Iso bubble flare.
So M10 1.0 tube nuts? M10 1.0 Union?
I noticed that some fittings are larger? Are they M12? What union for those?
It looks like you have it under contrl.
I don't remember the nuts 100%, but to the best of my memmory, the smaller ones are like you said M10X1.0 the bigger ones are M12X1.0. The line is 3/16 or 4.75mm.
Make sure that when you get the unions, you buy steel ones and not the brass. Brass will strip before you will be able to tie it up. Also, make sure you buy unions for bubble flare as there are different types of unions. For the lines that have M12 bolts on ABS side, just use M10 for the union side.
This stuff is pretty cheap at PepGirls and Advanced

M12 bolts would need a M12 union?
Or use a M12 to M10 union?
I had problems finding M12 unions, so I just cut off BMW side M12 and put M10 so I could just use another M10 union.

true, I did get a new iso flare tool. I guess I can reflare it.
Just remember to do couple of practice flares before you cut off BMW side
Here is what I did to mine. The BMW side is a little mangled up, because initally I was trying to bend the lines to get the ABS unit stuffed higher up, under master cyl. and then finally moved it forward.

Has anyone else found a M12 1.0 union for 4.75mm Line? It would be nice not to have to cut off those factory fittings.
you're asking about two different things - do you want an m12x1.0 union - as in already has connectors on both sides and you're just connecting? any auto parts store should stock those.
do not use compression fittings on brake systems - I did for a little while and i'm sure plenty of others have as well but if you have the option or for the long term it is the incorrect way to do brake lines.
also I don't remember which swap kit you ended up going with but with the samberg kit you're going to have those lines along the frame rail right at the corner "piece" be way too close to the header potentially even touch it - I had to run mine along the frame rail bottom up to the master cylinder to clear the heat zone
I am not using compression fittings. Just an union between two M12 1.0 tube fittings.
I am using Vorshlag mounts and will be using their headers as well.
Nice progress. Don't let Irvine's HOA catch you, haha.
haha no shit, they are evil. I have to hide everything nightly.
I've been looking some more for those M12 1.0 Bubble Flare unions and I can't find one. Did everyone cut their lines like Bimerok and reflare them using M10 1.0 nuts?
Don't be afraid to cut them off. You disassembled half of the car and worry about the fittings? You're not going back now and putting the engine and ABS back, so there is no difference whether to flare new line or existing BMW.
