Here is link provided by WOKKE:
My install went well, EML chip required soldering in a socket.

    Good luck.

When splitting the circuit boards, be PATIENT. They are finicky.

never heard or read that before. So your original chip was soldered in?

Using a hairdryer to warm up the connector side is a good trick. Makes it a hell of a lot easier.

about 10%. More important though is the highly improved throttle response.

Wokke: I was surprised to find EML chip hard soldered to PCB. local computer repair shop will handle adding a chip socket. Could it be part of 1992-93 C-specifications, as this is an original Canadian car, it had DINAN chips when I opened DME's, they were dated 1991. Car has 81,000 km on it. It still had Canadian coins in the coin tray when I bought it.

I quite honestly have no clue why the chip is soldered in your EML box.
